Easy to setup and use, extremely low cost to buy considering the features that come with the product.
I just dont like the long delay to reboot the system each time.
I tried to change the IP address of the router only to have it crash on me, and needed to factory reset this.
(Don’t change it from 192.168.1.254!)
The documentation is hard to understand at times.
Found a button on the web interface called “Sumbit” ?, “Submit” !
I would like this product to have a more detail image to rollover with the mouse to give more information about each setting as I did not understand what was the best settings when I first received the product and was confused about WEP/WPA modes and field requirements before I read about it on the Web.
I would like to see a log feature also for Wireless connections, I could only see for WAN and LAN stats.
(I would like to see who tried to connect to my router before I did! 428 packets RX!). Perhaps a time/date and MAC address?
Also very important for first time users, to ensure the system is not kept in “Open” mode allowing anyone to connect to your network and use your connection and look at your hard drive files!
I recommend anyone buying any wireless router read more about securing their router BEFORE they connect it to a ISP/LAN to ensure the access is setup correctly so nobody can scan/find and connect to your router and compromise your network when you are in the period of understanding and setting up the router!
WPA pre-shared key seems to be the best option to use for a Home/Office network setup. The product allows for a Radius server to be used in a corp environment.
I was surprised to see a dynamic DNS function supported by this product.
Perhaps a nice FAQ on the CD would have been good to answer questions about the best settings to use for the wireless configuration section.
Do some research on WEP and WPA before buying this product and the documentation is lacking.
Plenty of spelling mistakes sometimes make it hard to read and understand. For an experienced network admin its easy but for a beginner it could be a nightmare for a good couple of candlelight long nights.
This product also has plenty of features to stop unauthorised access beyond WPA security including setting up authorised MAC addresses restricting access. Sure MAC addresses can be hacked but if you do not know the list of authorised ones inside the router this could be very hard to guess from a distance to the router.
DHCP seems to work very well too.
Oh and make sure you change the admin password as soon as you in the HTTP interface!
The firmware used in my router is 1.25E

It works, but due to some of its features being rather mystical, would not buy another gigabyte router. The problems with its firmware, including the hastely typed sumbit (submit) shows the product was put together by a clown firmware writer who was probably pushed for time. Unfortunately, so am I so I won’t recommend this router again. I will go for Cisco branded router types. It’s not good enough when you have to type the SID time and again and it reverts by itself to admin etc….
