It’s official — Instagram will now allow you to switch between accounts when on either Android or iOS. Social media managers, rejoice! Your day of deliverance has finally come. In a Monday blog post, Facebook-owned Instagram noted that the much anticipated functionality would be available in version 7.15 of the app. Now, super-grammers can manage up to five accounts simultaneously.

Updated on 02-08-2016 by Lulu Chang: Added news that multiple account support is now available on iOS and Android with the new version of Instagram.

To access this new and improved feature, just go to your profile settings and tap the option to add an additional account. From then on, you simply tap your username at the top of your profile to switch between accounts. Once you have all your accounts set up, Instagram will be sure to let you know which one you’re posting with so that you don’t erroneously post a scandalous selfie to your work account.

A slew of reports last week noted that Instagram was testing the account-switching function with a number of iOS users, allowing them to switch accounts in a couple of taps instead of having to go through the laborious process of logging in and out of each one.

The much sought-after feature – among some users, at least – was also tested on Android toward the end of last year, though an APK download was required to make it work. No such extras are needed for the iOS version.

The ability to easily switch among accounts will save time and hassle for anyone with more than one Instagram account – think businesses, celebrities, keen photographers, Instagram addicts. If you run into trouble with the feature, you can check out Instagram’s troubleshooting page for more details. You can get the latest version of Instagram on iOS or Android through the app stores.

If iOS 17 is a letdown, you can blame this one Apple device
iOS 16 Work Focus with a Fantastical widget and two rows of work-related apps

Apple is going all out on developing the operating system for its secret mixed-reality headset. In fact, that ongoing effort could mean Apple’s other systems miss out on exciting new features this year, including iOS 17 and macOS 14.

According to a new report from journalist Mark Gurman, Apple has reassigned engineers to the headset’s operating system, dubbed xrOS, and away from other projects. That might be bad news if you were hoping for major software updates to the next iPhone, iPad, and Mac models.

How Apple can fix iOS 16’s messy lock screen customization in iOS 17
iOS 16 lock screen on an iPhone 14 Pro

When you compare iOS and Android, it’s always been clear that Android is the way to go if you want full customization of your mobile software. However, ever since iOS 14, Apple seems to have had a change of heart and allowed for more user customization, starting with the home screen. With iOS 16, we finally got a few options for customizing our lock screens, which is the first thing we see when picking up our favorite iPhone.

As much as I enjoy using iOS on my iPhone 14 Pro, I’ve always wished for more ways to customize the software on my device to make it feel more personal — more me. iOS 14 made it possible to use custom app icons through the Shortcuts app, eliminating the need to jailbreak for that purpose. iOS 16 brought a few options for changing up how the lock screen looks, from sprucing up the font for the clock to adding some widgets. But Apple needs to do more because what we have in iOS 16 is not enough for the lock screen. Here’s what I hope Apple does in the future, maybe with iOS 17, for customizing the lock screen.
A better, simplified interface
