Spoiler alert: Reddit is banning users who post Star Wars: The Force Awakens details

A lucky few viewers have already seen the eagerly anticipated new Star Wars movie, most likely at its premiere on December 14. Although some attendees immediately took to posting spoiler-free reviews on Twitter, others have not been so well behaved.

Moderators on the popular link-sharing forum Reddit have warned users that people are purposefully posting Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers in various comment threads. Fortunately for the wider Reddit community, moderators at the popular /r/movies subreddit have taken it upon themselves to save the day.

Initially, a mod — appropriately named ‘darth_elevator’ — wrote a PSA urging people to download a browser extension that blocks Star Wars keywords — find out more about that here.

Things got a lot more heated when moderator ‘TheGreatZiegfield’ replied to the thread by stating, “We’ve banned dozens of users so far for this. I think all the mods have had it spoiled for them by now. We’ll do our best to make sure you guys don’t suffer the same fate. Good luck, guys.”

Therefore, be warned if you’re thinking of posting spoilers to the site. If you’re after a general, spoiler-free discussion, however, there won’t be a problem. The threads are filled with users asking questions regarding the earlier installments of the popular franchise and expressing their excitement for The Force Awakens.

It is unclear whether users who get banned will be allowed to join up again in the future. However, blocked users can just create another account under a different name, as The Next Web points out.

Like many of us, the moderators at Reddit were simply looking to enjoy Star Wars: The Force Awakens without the fear of spoilers. In some cases, however, it was unavoidable, with certain individuals reporting that they received private messages revealing major plot points.

There are also Redditors who are actively seeking spoilers. In case you can’t contain your anticipation, spoilers for The Force Awakens can be found on /r/TFAspoilertalk and /r/starwarsleaks. But don’t say we didn’t warn you.

How to create multiple profiles on a Facebook account

Facebook (and, by extension, Meta) are particular in the way that they allow users to create accounts and interact with their platform. Being the opposite of the typical anonymous service, Facebook sticks to the rule of one account per one person. However, Facebook allows its users to create multiple profiles that are all linked to one main Facebook account.

In much the same way as Japanese philosophy tells us we have three faces — one to show the world, one to show family, and one to show no one but ourselves — these profiles allow us to put a different 'face' out to different aspects or hobbies. One profile can keep tabs on your friends, while another goes hardcore into networking and selling tech on Facebook Marketplace.
