YouTube is offering a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to all users who want to breakthrough into the spotlight usually reserved for YouTube partners.

All you need is a camera, computer, and a personal story of “triumph” that needs to be shared with the world says, YouTube Next Lab Production Coordinator Matthew Yeager.

Need help with some ideas?

Well, Yeager has a few to jump start your creative right brain:

  • Have you ever had to overcome a seemingly insurmountable obstacle?
  • Was there a goal you reached through hard-work and perseverance?
  • Have you incorporated these inspiring tales of accomplishment into your channel?

Submissions can vary in style, as there isn’t a strict guideline past what we’ve already described.

The Prize: 16 vloggers will be chosen among received submissions and their talents will be incubated in a three month “intimate” educational workshop over Google+, with $4,000 in video gear and invaluable mentorship. Think of it as a crash course in professional YouTubing.

Deadline: April 18, 2013

Even if you have some reservations about Justin Bieber, you have to credit Livefyre for developing a tech solution to host a social media contest in partnership with Teen Vogue

Teen Vogue wants Belibers to Instagram a selfie (with friends) “donning their most Bieber-worthy threads.” To submit the photo, it needs to be tagged with #JustinToWin and #Girlfriend, which will then pop up on this real-time feed of submissions powered by Livefyre.

A Livefyre spokesperson tell us that the platform is powered by its StreamHub product, which TeenVogue is using to stream in RSS feeds from hashtagged Instagram photos.

So far 1,000 photos have been shared during the first week. In case you’re wondering who has a chance of winning, here’s a hint: The photos that get published on the contest’s landing page are manually selected by TeenVogue’s editors.

The Prize: None other than Justin in the flesh will greet the lucky #Girlfriend in a paid trip to the Big Apple backstage at one of his concerts. Oh, and they’ll throw in some Bieber perfume.

Deadline: May 8

Alicia Keys’ Tumblr “Set the World on Fire” Tour and contest

Alicia Keys, superstar musician and Blackberry creative director, has teamed up with Tumblr to give one of her fans the chance to cover each stop on her tour. Winners “will bring the show and their talents to life in the way only a Tumblr user knows how,” Keys writes.

Winners will get the chance to attend her concert and be the official Tumblr documentarian covering the show. Their posts are to be published onto their personal Tumblr blog, but Keys’ PR team will reblog each winner’s coverage to give them more exposure.

To enter the contest, you’ll be required to submit “an original” post in this link (a form is provided). The requirements for the submissions aren’t terribly specific so we’ll take it that you can be creative, meaning that your faux Tumblr post should catch their eye.

The Prize: A photo pass, two tickets for yourself (and a friend), and two backstage passes to meet Alicia Keys at a tour stop of your choice.

Deadline: Ongoing until Keys’ final tour date, September 15, 2013

If you want a chance to win a quick $5,000, this is the contest for you. It’s hosted by American Family Insurance and Better Homes and Gardens, which you can find at this link, and the rules are actually quite simple. All you have to do is choose your “Dream Room Makeover” image from four choices, type in your name and email address, and then pin your favorite selection to Pinterest. That’s it.

Interestingly enough, this contest is using Curlate’s Promote service, which provides a user-friendly template that makes hosting Pinterest contests a breeze for brands (otherwise it can be a nightmare).

The Prize: A $5,000 check.

Deadline: May 8, 2013 11:59 p.m. CST. The drawing takes place on May 24, 2013.

To participate, you’ll have to check out Fandango’s Facebook app called “Fandango Summer of Action” created just for this occasion, and action film goers are asked to vote on their favorite action heroes in a head-to-head battle.

There are five rounds of voting, which you can read about here, and for every round you participate in the greater your chances are of winning.

Fandango appears to be working with the movie studios to promote Iron Man 3

The Prize: A Boston Acoustics 2310HTS Home Theater Speaker System and a Samsung UN40EH6000 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV that goes to one winner.

Staying on Twitter? Here are two ways to make it easier
Twitter app on the OnePlus 10T.

Yes, it's true: Elon Musk has officially taken the reins at Twitter. And as expected, there are quite a few people who aren't happy about the news, as they have voiced their concerns that a Musk-helmed Twitter could be more susceptible to more of the toxicity and abuse that the bird app already struggles with. Deleting your Twitter account is certainly a viable option that many are considering -- and hey, more power to you ifthat's what you decide.

But here are two things you can do to make the days ahead a bit more bearable without having to resort to muting a bunch of words or leaving Twitter altogether.
Get away from the main timeline
When you're scrolling through endless tweets on your timeline, it's easy to think that that's all there is to Twitter. And that's actually not true. At least not as of recently. Twitter has other ways of sharing and consuming content that isn't about just having to put up with whatever you see in your main timeline. And these other ways are actually whole sections of the bird app that are separate from the main timeline, giving you a break from others'  rants or mean tweets or arguments.

Instagram being used on an iPhone.

Instagram appears to be down right now, but the glitch many users are reporting is an odd one. It's not just that users are having trouble accessing the popular photo- and video-sharing app, but they're also having trouble accessing their own accounts and have reported being hit with account suspension notices.

On Monday morning, the apparent Instagram outage was reported by users on Twitter and on Downdetector. Both sites included numerous reports saying that users suddenly lost access to their IG accounts and were given account suspension notices.
