Get MP3, DivX, CD-R Support On Playstation2
Datel’s Action Replay series of PlayStation 2 cheat devices have always let players do some rather unconventional things with their consoles, but the newly-released Action Replay MAX looks to take the prize. In addition to twiddling the performance of games with the usual array of cheat codes, it also adds media player and emulation features to Sony’s console.
The added features revolve around the device’s new custom CD-R compatibility. The bundled MAX Media Creator program for PCs will burn a CD of MP3 music, DivX video, or Genesis/Mega Drive ROMs, which will then play back on an Action Replay-equipped PS2. Datel has also added its PS2 online chat and instant messaging client to the Action Replay package.
Sony Shows Off PSP Software
Called Death, Jr., the game is an action platformer cartoony, cel-shaded visuals and gameplay style reminiscent of Capcom’s PS2 title Maximo, and the video of the game in action – which was demonstrated by Chris Charla, producer for Digital Eclipse – demonstrated a level of graphical prowess previously unheard of in a handheld console.
“Polygon for polygon, PSP has more power than PS2,” enthused Charla, confirming our expectations based on Sony’s released specs for the device. “A huge number of effects that are given to you in software on PS2 are available in hardware on PSP.”
RIAA sues 5 Washington residents
The suits were part of a new round of legal action by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which has filed 341 lawsuits since it launched a crackdown against individuals in September. The association filed 41 new lawsuits this week and sent 90 lawsuit-notification letters to those targeted for legal action.
The RIAA said the Washington residents being sued were allegedly sharing thousands of songs online illegally, including such tunes as “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel, “Hey Ladies” by Destiny’s Child and “Human Nature” by Michael Jackson.
The court documents include little information about the defendants except their names.
