Weather geeks who find themselves bouncing from site to site to check different forms of radar now have one more choice, over at Weather Underground. The site introduced its brand new WunderMap on Wednesday, a service it claims is the most user-friendly and interactive on the Web.
Unlike Weather.com which borrows map interface from Microsoft, and sites like AccuWeather that simply use animated map images, the WunderMap borrows its interface from the ever-popular Google Maps. Users can view NEXRAD radar, weather stations, satellite views, and even webcams by clicking on and off different layers of the map. Each layer also includes options for fine tuning – when viewing NEXRAD, for instance, users can choose how much opacity the layer should have, how many frames should be animated, and even the delay between frames.
