Samsung’s W7100 Alarm Phone Shrieks for Protection

Samsung

Until somebody builds a gun, knife or pepper spray into a cell phone (which we imagine might cause some safety problems), Samsung’s W7100 is the next best thing to thwart evildoers. The new handset, unveiled today in Korea, sports a 100-decibel alarm and other safety features designed to ward off the riff raff.

Just like an old-school personal alarm, the W1700’s cry is activated by pulling a giant ring that hangs off it on a string. Quite unlike that classic alarm, the phone also uses GPS to pinpoint your location at the time and alert authorities when the siren goes off. The hope, of course, is that the alarm (supposedly audible within 230 feet) will send crimianals running, and if not, the digital transmission will get cops to your location as quickly as possible.

VoIP Alarm System Announced

NextAlarm, in conjunction with Voixilla, Inc, is preparing a new alarm system for residential and small businesses based entirely on VoIP technology.  NextAlarm’s services will be available initially to customers in North America.

The system will used Alarm Broadband Network adapters which will report to alarm centers.  For rates beginning at $8.95 a month, the service improves on traditional telephone based alarm systems by being able to provide detailed information, such as when someone enters or leaves the house.  Customers will be able to receive this information via email and instant messaging.

Palm Tungsten|E review

Quote from the review:

“Overall, I’d have to say that the Tungsten|E is a solid PDA that gives you a good value for your money. The TE really has a lot going for it, for both newbies and people upgrading from older Palms. Of course as the ‘middle child’, it is missing a few things that some of the other Palm models have. But, if you don’t need a Voice Recorder, Universal Connector, LED alarm, Vibrating alarm, Bluetooth, Camera, or HotSync cradle, then the TE’s great screen, snappy performance and nice form factor might just make it your next ‘main brain’. Even if it’s not for you, I think the Tungsten|E will be very popular this next holiday buying season.”
