California’s Spring Design hs thrown its hat into the burgeoning market for ereaders with Alex, a new ebook reader based on Google’s Android platform for mobile devices. Like other ebook readers, the Alex will use 6-inch EInk display to show printed content; unlike other ebook readers, the Alex will also sport a 3.5-inch touch-sensitive LCD display for browsing the Internet and for managing content displayed on the EInk paper-like display. The Alex will also support full Internet browsing using either Wi-Fi or mobile networks.

Thinking about the New Zunes, the Xbox Extreme Handheld and Apple UMPC
It’s been kind of a quiet week as we get ready for the Halo 3 coming out party on Friday, and yes I’ll be there. Two other products that are increasingly being anticipated are the second generation Zune media players and the Xbox handheld gaming system.
Let’s have some fun and speculate a little on what Microsoft may have in store.
New Zune: Designed by Microsoft
The first generation Zune was rushed to market and was largely a re-skin of an existing Toshiba offering with the addition of a WiFi radio that only worked with other Zune players. It hardly set the market, which is owned by Apple, on fire and we’ve all but forgotten about it.

Alex Hotels gets Sharp Aquos LCD TV’s
Opening in November 2003, the hotel features AQUOS flat-panel televisions in every living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Both the living room and bedroom feature 30-inch AQUOS screens, and the bathroomis outfitted with a 13-inch set. Sharp’s 1-Bit digital audio systems are also situated in the living room and bedroom, coupled with a Sharp DVD player to create a total home theater experience forhotel guests.
