Sharp Ships New MB Series DLP Projectors

“The Notevision MB series offers features like ease-of-use, unmatched compatibility and theft deterrence that are important to users in educational and collaborative work environments,” said Bruce Pollack, associate director of marketing, Sharp Information Systems Group. “The new projectors incorporate DLP technology because it is the best solution for exceptional performance, high brightness and robust contrast in a compact size.”

These projectors are extremely portable for business use anywhere. Weighing approximately nine pounds, the projectors can be easily moved from classroom to lecture hall or boardroom to meeting room.

High Brightness and Low Cost of Ownership

Sony Introduces Pint-Sized Projector

Sony Electronics today introduced a pint-sized projector that meets the needs of educational and corporate customers who want a transportable, lightweight design, along with the flexibility to make presentations in rooms with challenging lighting conditions and limited space.

Weighing only 6 pounds, 4 ounces, the new VPL-CS7 projector can easily be moved between meeting rooms or taken on business trips.

With a high brightness level (1800 ANSI lumens), Jim Neal, group general manager for Sony’s IT display products said that “presentations look great in almost any environment – light or dark. People in the audience can stay focused on the presenters or instructors whether the lights are on or off, or whether the shades are open or drawn.”

Canon Launches Three New Projectors

All three models have the capability to be placed in most any size room, providing theater-sized images from the comfort of the living room or the length of a boardroom.

“By offering projectors with high-end features at a practical price, Canon succeeds in providing products that can be incorporated into a variety of environments and customized for a wide range of needs,” said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ). “Our newest line of projectors has been developed with a diverse group of users in mind. From teachers, to business executives, to the family at home, Canon’s newest projectors provide high-quality performance and functionality in a micro-portable package suitable for all users’ needs.”

Epson Introduces Two New Value Projectors

Both projectors feature increased connectivity, enhanced audio capabilities, user-friendly setup and brightness rated up to 2,000 ANSI lumens. The PowerLite 81p features XGA (1024 x 768) native resolution and is priced at $1,799; while the PowerLite 61p offers SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution for $1,499 (both are estimated street prices).

By incorporating four video input connections including two individual “computer” inputs, these two projectors enable users to plug into, and easily switch between a wider selection of source devices such as PCs, video players and audio. Additionally, a new “Auto Source Selection” feature allows presenters to get their content up and running quicker and easier, alleviating stresses commonly associated with setup time. This is further simplified with the inclusion of color-coded cables and a verification tone that sounds whenever the “power on” and “power off” button has been selected.

Both projectors also feature five-watt speakers and four audio inputs, an ideal solution for teachers and presenters who occasionally need to incorporate audio content from DVDs or video cassettes, and also need a way to project audio throughout a room. Conversely, the projectors’ low fan noise (as low as 30db) contributes to a quieter, less distracting presenting environment.

The PowerLite 81p and 61p include six built-in display modes for various environments including Epson’s unique Blackboard mode. Designed for classroom settings, Blackboard mode gives the projector the ability to detect the color of a display surface such as a chalkboard or painted wall and adjust its output to optimize accurate color reproduction, contributing to increased comprehension and retention.

“In recent years, the `value’ category of projectors throughout the industry was driven solely by one factor — price, which resulted in some products that offered extremely limited performance without many special features,” said Aaron Marinari, product manager, Epson America. “Today things have changed dramatically and projectors such as the EPSON PowerLite 81p and 61p not only offer competitive prices, but also include several key features that are the direct result of feedback we’ve collected from customers and dealers.”

Epson Announces New Home 10+ Projector

The new projector combines Epson’s award-winning projection technology with a 16:9 full-screen display, newly modified contrast ratio and increased brightness to provide an even better level of quality image.

The PowerLite Home 10+ has the same attractive features as the original Home 10, but by modifying optical mechanics, Epson has increased the projector’s brightness by 200 ANSI lumens to 1,200 ANSI lumens for a more brilliant picture in all viewing environments. The contrast ratio has also been increased to achieve a maximum 800:1 from 700:1, producing sharper, more colorful images that are optimized for movie viewing.

Sharp demos XG-C55X projector

The Notevision C55 projector is an enhancement to Sharp’s popular Notevision C50 projector, offering up to 50-percent more lamp life and lowering the projector’s overall cost of ownership.

With 3000 ANSI Lumens and a host of advanced imaging and security features in a slim 11.2 lb. attache-case design, the Notevision C55 is a powerful new addition to the Sharp family. The Notevision C55 is specifically designed for basic installation in the education, government and corporate sectors, offering high brightness and a slate of theft deterrent features. Sharp has addressed the growing problem of A/V equipment theft by implementing such security features as “key code activation” to prevent unauthorized operation and a “Notevision Lockdown” bolt, as well as offering an optional ceiling mount cable lock system.
