Apple Unveils New iMac G5 Line

The new iMac G5s also include faster graphics, a new 8X SuperDrive with double-layer support, built-in Gigabit Ethernet for faster networking, and 512MB of memory across the line.

The iMac G5 makes the ultimate statement in design simplicity with the entire computer, including the power supply and slot-load optical drive, built right into a two-inch thin display. The new iMac G5 offers gorgeous widescreen displays including a 20-inch model with 1680-by-1050 pixel resolution or a 17-inch model with 1440-by-900 pixel resolution. With built-in AirPort Extreme 802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) wireless modules, it’s even easier to reduce cable clutter with the optional Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Wireless Mouse.

Apple’s Tiger OS Rolls Into Stores

All 105 Apple retail stores will host “Tiger World Premiere” events from 6:00 p.m. to midnight offering workshops and hands-on demonstrations of Tiger’s hottest features, plus giveaways at every store including a chance to win a PowerBook G4, iPod and more.

“Starting tomorrow night, features like Spotlight and Dashboard will change the way millions of people use their computers,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Our competitors will be trying to copy Tiger’s more than 200 new features and innovations for years to come.”

Apple Reduces Prices on Cinema Displays

In addition, Apple’s new 2.7 GHz Power Mac G5s and 1.67 GHz 17-inch PowerBooks now feature built-in support to directly drive Apple’s 30-inch Cinema HD Display, saving customers hundreds of dollars.

Apple’s flat panel display line, comprising the 20-inch Cinema Display, the 23-inch Cinema HD Display and revolutionary 30-inch Cinema HD Display, is designed to work with DVI-equipped Power Mac G5 desktops, PowerBook® G4 notebooks and Windows-based computers, and offers the widescreen design (16:10 ratio) coveted by creative professionals who want access to more screen real estate.  The 30-inch Cinema HD Display has an industry-leading 2560-by-1600 pixel resolution and the 23-inch Cinema HD Display has a 1920-by-1200 pixel resolution, ideal for editing High Definition Television (HDTV) content.  The 20-inch Cinema Display professional-quality flat panel offers a 1680-by-1050 pixel resolution, more than enough space to edit full size images with plenty of room for on-screen palettes.

Apple Unveils New iPod mini’s, iPod photo

Both iPod mini models feature increased battery life of up to 18 hours, USB charging and an ultra-portable, lightweight design available in four vibrant colors.

Apple Announces Flash Based MP3 Player

Apple Introduces iPod Photo

iPod Photo holds up to 25,000 digital photos alongside your music library and displays them on its stunning high-resolution color screen, allowing you to scroll through your photo library almostinstantly using iPod’s patent pending Click Wheel. iPod Photo lets you combine your music and your favorite photos to create magical slideshows on your iPod, and features TV-out for sharing yourslideshows on big screen televisions and projectors. iPod Photo comes in 40GB or 60GB models which hold up to 10,000 or 15,000 songs, and its extended battery life gives users up to 15 hours of musicplayback or up to 5 hours of slideshows.

Apple Debuts 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5

Apple Unveils iMac G5 In Paris

The new model, unveiled by Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller at the opening of the Apple Expo in Paris, upgrades the iMac line with the faster G5 processors already used in Apple’s top-end Power Macs. From Apple’s press release:

Apple today unveiled the new iMac G5, featuring the high-performance G5 processor and a stunning new design that integrates the entire computer right into the flat panel display. The iMac G5 packs a complete computer system into a mere two inches of depth—the world’s thinnest desktop computer. The new line offers 17- or 20-inch active matrix widescreen LCDs and G5 processors running up to 1.8 GHz starting at $1,299.

Apple Introduces New iPod

While many were hoping for new colors and a larger capacity hard drive, Apple’s latest iPod is available now only in white and only in 20GB or 40GB versions.
