Low-cost PC maker eMachines has introduced its new EZ1601-01 all-in-one computer, combining a bit of the look of an Apple iMac with the price tag of a netbook portable computer. And the resemblance to a netbook doesn’t stop with the price: while the EX1601-01 sports an 18.5-inch display, it also touts a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processors, Windows XP, and 1 GB of RAM.

"The eMachines EZ1601-01 all-in-one PC proves style doesn’t have to come at a price premium," said eMachines’ senior manager for desktop products Glenn Jystad, in a statement. "It also shows that capabilities and functionality don’t have to be sacrificed at the expense of great design."

And the PS3 consumed 10 times the as much power as the NIntendo Wii.

Asus Plans Three New Eee-Branded Computers

Having spawned an entire generation of spin-off low-cost laptops with its Eee PC, Asus will be moving its Eee branding onward on to other products including a low-cost desktop, an iMac competitor, and a TV with a computer built in. Asus president Jerry Shen announced the new products on Wednesday, according to DigiTimes.

The low-cost desktop, dubbed the E-DT, should cost only $200 to $300 without a monitor. The desktop will initially harness Intel’s Celeron processors, but will likely move on to the Shelton’08 platform in the future. It will also be the first of the new Eee products to see the light of day, with a scheduled launch in April or May.
