Friends. Family. Gainful employment. A chance to dig into a big, juicy turkey with all the fixins and (fingers crossed) actually enjoy a full eight hours of sleep courtesy of a Tryptophan coma. These are tops on the list of things we’re truly thankful for this holiday season. But being the good consumerists and high-tech newshounds we are, we also have to give props where it’s really due – to all the shiny new gadgets and lifesaving technologies that let us squeeze 63 hours of fun and productivity into each and every day.

3G iPhone Debut Marred By Glitches
Of course the release of Apple’s 3G iPhone was a success. Everywhere it went on sale (all 21 countries) there were lines of customers eager to purchase a handset and sign up for service. But by the nature of things, it couldn’t go perfectly – and there were a few problems to put a tarnish on the polish.
First of all, demand exceeded supply. At the Apple store in Regent Street, London, police were called as the supply dwindled long before the number of customers.

The new iPhone is finally (almost) here, and not a moment too soon, as the original models have all but disappeared. Although iPhone 2.0 makes good on promises like 3G data speeds, Assisted GPS, and stereo Bluetooth, it’s still a work in progress. Here are five things we’d like to see in iPhone 3.0.
8GB and 16GB? Still?! This may have helped keep the iPhone’s price down, but we are definitely ready for a 32GB version. Adding a microSD slot would be a nice touch too, though that raises some technical issues because of the way the iPod handles its file database.
