How to Keep iPod Headphones From Tangling

Apple-ipod-classicHow many of you are constantly messing around with MP3 player headphones? If you are like me, you spend a good minute or two working the maze of cords free and watching your blood pressure rise. And if you are also like me (and not very smart, I might add), you might be trying to do this on a moving elliptical at the gym – trust me, don’t do this unless you are very coordinated.

There are some very good tricks out there to help you keep your cords untangled; short of using butter of course. Here are some of our favorites:

Dell Developing Android Handset?

Dell Developing Android Handset?

Dell makes computers, right? Well, maybe not just that, if a rumor from the Wall Street Journal is correct. The newspaper has reported that the maker of PCs and servers is set to branch out into the mobile handset market.

According to the article, it won’t be a mobile phone, but a handheld Internet device that will be about the size of an Apple iPod Touch and be powered by Google’s Android operating system.

However, this follows earlier rumors of Dell developing first a portable media player and then a smartphone, neither of which has happened.

Archos 2 MP3 Player Finally Coming to U.S.

Archos 2 MP3 Player Finally Coming to U.S.

Although it’s been available in other markets for a while, media player maker Archos is finally bringing its diminutive Archos 2 digital music player to the United States market. And when we say “diminutive” we don’t mean so-small-you-could-lose-it like the Apple iPod shuffle, but we do mean the unit maked to be sleek and portable without doing away with a display to help users manage their songs and playlists. And did we mention that it offers two to four times the storage capacity as the iPod shuffle? At similar prices? Plus a voice recorder?

Technology We’re Thankful For

Friends. Family. Gainful employment. A chance to dig into a big, juicy turkey with all the fixins and (fingers crossed) actually enjoy a full eight hours of sleep courtesy of a Tryptophan coma. These are tops on the list of things we’re truly thankful for this holiday season. But being the good consumerists and high-tech newshounds we are, we also have to give props where it’s really due – to all the shiny new gadgets and lifesaving technologies that let us squeeze 63 hours of fun and productivity into each and every day.

All-in-One Printers: Buying Tips

HP Photosmart PrinterNow here’s a form of electronic convergence that really works: Rather than investing in separate machines for your home office – namely, a printer, scanner, copier and fax* — one of the latest trends is buying a “multifunction” printer that handles all of these tasks.

Sometimes these inkjet or laser-based printers are aptly referred to as “all-in-one” products. Companies may also incorporate this added functionality into the product name, such as the HP PSC 2210 – the “PSC” stands for print, scan and copy. Similarly, Lexmark often uses the acronym “AIO,” for all-in-one, in their product lines.

Belkin Updates Cases for New iPods

Belkin Updates Cases for New iPods

Never far behind the Apple iPod train with new accessories, Belkin on Wednesday announced a new line of cases for the iPod Nano 4G and iPod Touch 2G, devices that that were announced by Apple only a day earlier. The cases announced include many versions of Belkin’s existing designs that have been tweaked for the new, slightly modified devices.

Belkin will offers its Sport Armband Plus, along with an array of two-tone silicone cases, a remix metal case, a clear acrylic case, a pull-tab leather holster, leather sleeve and folio designs, and their faux-leather eco-conscious equivalents. Every case will be available for both the iPod touch 2G and nano 4G, with some also adapted for the so-called iPod classic 2G, Apple’s latest variant of the traditional iPod.

Archos Intros New Internet Media Tablets

Archos Intros New Internet Media Tablets

Archos has been sticking with the personal media player market, gamely continuing to compete with the Apple iPod juggernaut by consistently offering players that offer more storage, better specs, bigger screens, a wider degree of compatibility, and a wider range of features. Now, the company is rolling the sixth generation of PMPs—dubbed “Internet Media Tablets”—that all pack Wi-Fi, and which include models offering HSDPA mobile broadband and up to 320 GB in storage. And they come with a new—some might say improved—look.

Apple Settles iPod Class Action Suits

Apple has agreed to settle (PDF) a pair of class action lawsuits brought against it in Canada by Inez Lenzi and Bradley Waddell that accused the company of misleading consumers about the battery life of its famous iPod portable media players. Under terms of the settlement, customers who bought particular iPods in Canada on or before June 24, 2004, will be eligible for $45 CDN credit in the Apple Canada online store.

The suits alleged Apple misled consumers by claiming the iPods were capable of 8 to 10 hours of continuous music playback; however, as users recharged their iPods, the battery life declined over time, in some cases holding a charge good only for two or three hours of music playback.

SanDisk Introduces Sansa Fuze Media Players

SanDisk is gunning for the Apple iPod line again, this time taking on the video-capable iPod nano with its new Sansa Fuze line of portable media players. The Sansa Fuze players sport a 1.9-inch color screen, capacities of 2, 4, and 8 GB of flash memory, a microSD slot that enables users to expand storage…and they start at just $79.

“The Sansa Fuze is an eye-catching player that consumers will enjoy for its looks, capabilities and incredible value,” said SanDisk’s VP of Sansa product marketing Eric Bone, in a statement. “This new MP3 player combines some of the best features found on other Sansa products, including great sound quality. It’s yet another strong offering by SanDisk in the sub-$150 music player market.”

The Best of CES 2008

It was interesting that Apple announced their new eight core workstation during CES rather than waiting for MacWorld. This may have simply been to keep folks thinking about Apple during a week where most of us were overwhelmed with product announcements from others. Apple always likes to remind writers that they have something big too. But this new Apple system, while impressive, was no iPhone and the buzz this year for this week stayed with CES.

Are We Seeing the Beginning of the End for CES?
