Mobile devices might be great things, letting us take our media and stay in touch with the world wherever we go—so long as we don’t stray too far from power outlets, or forget to bring our adapters or USB cables with us. Wouldn’t it be great if we could harness free, environmentally-friendly energy sources essentially anywhere we go, and use them to keep our gizmos going?

Music Video Site Muzu Strikes Deal with Merlin
Ireland-based music video Web site Muzu has inked a licensing deal with Merlin, the self-annointed “fifth major” record label that represents an enormous number of independent artists, giving Muzu access to video footage from major acts like Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, and Arctic Monkeys. The deal is Merlin’s first with a video music site, which so far has been unable to reach acceptable deals with industry heavyweights like YouTube and MySpace Music.
Muzu pays artists and labels through advertising revenue generated when users play videos on the site; however, financial terms of the Merlin deal were not disclosed. Muzu users currently play over 7 million videos a month, and the site has generally won acclaim for its design and and performance.
iSkin Keyboard Covers Satisfy Germaphobes
With iSkin already offering a line of protective gadget covers for those who can’t be bothered to wash their hands before manhandling their MacBooks with orange Cheez Doodle fingers, it only makes sense that the next step was a cover that kept germs at bay as well. The company announced on Friday that its ProTouch keyboard covers now come with Microban, a protective material that prevents microbes from spreading.
The germaphobe-friendly material is already used in hundreds of other heavily handled consumer products, from can openers to lunchboxes. It works by disrupting the cell functions of bacteria, fungus, algae and other microbes, preventing them from spreading.
Gateway Adds Color to M- and T-Series
If Garnet Red and Pacific Blue weren’t quite cutting it for you as color selections on Gateway notebooks, the latest news out of the company may just tickle your eye’s fancy. Gateway announced on Thursday that its M-Series and T-Series notebooks are getting a new splash of color, including the delicious-sounding rich Merlot, the flashy luminous Silver, and the somewhat-confusing Arctic Bloom.
The M-Series notebooks, already home to the aforementioned red and blue, will take on Merlot and Silver, while both the M- and T-Series will have the option of Arctic Bloom, which looks a bit like a design you could make using flowers as stencils and about five different cans of bluish spraypaint.
SpiralFrog Signs EMI for Free Music

The news follows last week’s announcement that SpiralFrog had landed the catalog of another major label, Vivendi Universal.
iSkin eVo 3 Silicone Skins Fit Video iPods
iSkin has announced the availability of its iSkin eVo3 protectors for Apple’s fifth-generation video-capable iPods, and if there’s one word iSkin wants you to associate with the eVo3, it’s “seamless.”.
Made from high-grade silicone, the sleek eVo3 cases protect iPods from scratches, bumps, and (to an extent) moisture, offer a clear scratch-resistant face and screen protector, shock-absorbing capabilities, and micro-textured surfaces which makes the case easier to grip than a notoriously-slippery bare iPod.
The eVo3 cases come with a removable rotary belt clip, and features heat-releasing “pores” on the back to help the iPod cool in video mode or when being used as a portable hard drive.
