Audiovox Stops Shipping XM Receiver
Audiovox said on Tuesday it has suspended shipment of its Xpress Model XMCK10 XM satellite radio receiver after the U.S. Federal Communications Commission found the unit did not comply with operating bandwidth requirements or emissions specifications. For its part, Audiovox said it would conduct an internal review and modify the product so it operates within FCC specs.
Although you’d never be able to find out from Audiovox’s own site, the XMCK10 XPress is an XM receiver aimed at the portable audio and car markets: it includes a 100-channel FM transmitter, 5-line LCD, and auxiliary input, plus a remote, antenna; car kits include power adapters, a cradle, and cassette adapter. Retail pricing typically fell between $60 and $80, not counting XM service fees.
