Firefox 3.0 is barely, and very successfully, out of the blocks when Mozilla has announced it will release of beta of the new Firefox 3.1, ZDNet reports. It’s set August 19 as the release date, although the organization has added that the date is flexible.

So what will 3.1 contain? According to a posted wiki, there will be browser support for HTML 5, meaning Firefox will be able to work with audio and video html tags, as well as support for the Ogg Vorbis audio codec and the Ogg Theora video codec.

Dell Adds 1 TB Storage Options

Direct marketer Dell announced today that it is offering Hitachi 1 TB hard drive storage options on selected Aurora, XPS, and Alienware Area 51 desktop gaming systems.

“Digital content use is exploding in the consumer market—with this 1 TB hard drive, a lifetime of memories, music and other information can be made, stored and shared with others,” said Neil Hand, Dell’s worldwide consumer marketing consumer product group VP, in a statement. “This type of capability used to be available only to the largest corporations. With the spectacular advancement in hard drives and the engineering in our systems, we’re now able to bring it to consumers.”

High performance computer manufacturer Alienware is using E3 this week to announce its new SLI-powered laptops as well as a limited edition computer line which has comic book chassis designs. All of these systems should be available by June.

Alienware “Chills” Quad SLI Aurora ALX

Alienware today said they are looking to put the chill on their hot new Aurora ALX system equipped with Quad Nvidia SLI graphics and have partnered with CoolIT Systems to create a “liquid chilled” solution for the computer’s four GPUs. This recently announced computer has a starting configuration price of around $6,900.

The Aurora ALX system with CoolIT Systems technology, the two companies said, takes the liquid used to cool system components and chills it below ambient temperature to help keep the computer from overheating and provide the “ideal level of cooling for four GPUs”. It also reportedly produces a lower noise level than standard liquid cooling solutions.

Design-oriented computer maker Alienware has unveiled the Sentia m3200 and the Aurora m7700 notebook computers, one offering an ultra-slim and lightweight form factor for maximum portability, and the other offering desktop-rivalling processor and graphics performance.

The Alienware Sentia m3200 features a 12.1-inch wide-screen (1280 by 800) LCD display with either an Intel Pentium M or Celeron M CPU (ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 GHz) and Intel Extreme Integrated Graphics, a base 256MB of RAM, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a 40 GB to 120 GB hard drive, VGA and X-video output, a four-pin mini FireWire/IEEE 1394 port, built-in 100Base-T Ethernet, a 56Kbps modem, headphone and 5:1 digital audio output, line/mic input, an Express Card slot, and a 4-in-1 (SD/MS/MSPRO/MMC) card reader. Alienware Gets Cool with Aurora 7500

Computer manufacturer Alienware today announced a new version of their Aurora 7500 desktop. This souped up computer features several new “cutting edge advancements”.

The Aurora 7500, said Alienware, now comes with a liquid cooling technology they designed. This delivers what Alienware says is up to a 30% improvement in thermal performance and is quieter because there are no internal fans. Also featured is the Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX KO ACS3 graphics card and Microsoft’s Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Canadian Cable Company Offers 9Mbps Upgrade

While many cable companies are touting their increase to 3Mbps, Aurora Cable Internet of Aurora, Ontario is offering its “Superfast High-Speed Internet” with a 9Mpbs speed cap for its regular price of $44.95.

The company is offering free modem upgrades to customers that require a newer high-speed modem and also offers high-speed gaming servers.
