BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini Projector Review

Summary

Companies that manufacture ultra-portable video projectors like BenQ’s Joybee GP1 typically aim these devices at the business market, targeting corporate road warriors who travel from client to client making PowerPoint presentations. In an interesting twist though, BenQ is pitching this device squarely at the family.

BenQ W500 Review

Summary

The W500 features an iris-like lens design that mimics our own eye, adjusting the aperture after analyzing the incoming video signal. The aperture is contracted during dark scenes for truer black tones and enhanced detail, while it is enlarged for bright scenes to maximize light output and enable a wider dynamic range. No matter what type of content is on, the W500 ensures that you get the very best viewing experience.

BenQ LCD Packs 1080p in 21.5 Inches

BenQ LCD Packs 1080p in 21.5 Inches

Taiwan’s BenQ has unveiled its new LCD display, which claims to be the first monitor on the planet to pack a 1080p full HD resolution into a 21.5-inch display. (And given the somewhat odd panel size, they’re probably correct.) BenQ says the E2200HDA will be the first in a line of five full HD LCD monitors that support 1080p resolution and the 16:9 aspect ratio—and some of those will stretch out to 24 inches.

BenQ Again Claims Slimmest 8 MP Camera

BenQ Again Claims Slimmest 8 MP Camera

Taiwan’s BenQ is again laying claim to having the world’s slimmest 8 megapixel camera—it previously claimed its DSC X800 was the slimmest in the category—this time with its T850 point-and-shoot camera. The T8650 sports a 3× optical zoom, a 3-inch LCD display, ISO sensitivity down to 1600 (more for shake-free and movie modes, USB 2.0 connectivity, and SD/SDHC storage, along with consumer-friendly snapshot features like smile-capture, face-tracking, and image stabilization.

BenQ Claims World’s Thinnest 24-inch LCD

BenQ Claims World

Taiwan’s BenQ has announced its V2004W 24-inch LCD display, which the company is not only claiming is the world’s thinnest display in its size range (measuring just 2.4 inches at its thickest) but establishes computer hardware as "the newest art form" with its "unexpected" asymmetry and airplane-inspired curves.

"The V2400W is inspired by the B2 stealth bomber, evoking a sense of mystery, awe and the elite" said BenQ Lifestyle Design Center’s Manfred Wang, in a statement. "In addition, the display’s asymmetry exemplifies our new design philosophy. One is captivated by its suspended energy, expecting the screen to tilt. But it stands still, as if time were frozen and the movement paused."

BenQ Claims Slimmest 8 Megapixel Camera

BenQ has announced its new DCS X800 point-and-shoot digital camera, which the company is claiming is the slimmest 8 megapixel shooter on the market, with a thickness of 14 mm, but it pulls in its gut to measure just 9.8 mm at its thinnest. The X800 also sports a 3-inch LCD display, face detection technology, and BenQ’s “Super Shake Free” image stabilization to ensure clear pictures.

BenQ Intros Four New Gaming Monitors

Taiwan’s BenQ has announced four new LCD monitors aimed at gamers, with three widescreen models sized at 19 inches (the X900W), 20 inches (the X2000W), and 22 inches (the X2200W), along with the traditionally-proportioned 19-inch X900.

The two 19-inch models sport DVI-D and D-sub inputs, while the 20- and 22-inch units add HDMI inputs. All four monitors sport fast 2ms grey-to-grey response times, 160° viewing angles, HDCP support, and respectable contrast ratios and brightness. The systems all sport BenQ’s Senseye display mode technology to optimize the display for different types of output (including two modes for racing and action games). The X2200W also features BenQ’s PerfectMotion technology to offer an 8 ms Motion Picture Response Time; the company claims other LCD panels typically offer a 20ms Motion Picture Response Time.

BenQ Joybook R43 Evokes Urban Imagery

BenQ Joybook R43 Evokes Urban Imagery

As if modern laptops weren’t sleek and urban enough, BenQ has upped the ante in appealing to city-goers with a laptop designed to recall the glittering skyline of a major metropolis. The BenQ Joybook R43 looks ordinary enough in its matte-black finish, except for a slim band of skyscraper-esque geometric shapes etched across its top, interlaced with softly glowing white lights to simulate the glow of the city.

BenQ executed the design with inscribed Laminar Film, and attempted to carry it inside with a power button and indicator lights that glow blue. Besides this carefully orchestrated urban feel, the R43 is a fairly ordinary laptop with a 14.1-inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, DDR2 memory and a SiS Mirage 3+ graphics chip.
