Inexpensive, super-portable, and (importantly!) low-cost netbooks might be one bright spot in PC sales in the current global economic downturn, but market analysis firm Biz360 finds consumers don’t seem to be all that thrilled with the low-end notebooks—at least if online reviews and social media postings are any indication. Biz360 pointed its automated Opinion Insights tool at social media Web sites and online product reviews to get a sense of how consumers are responding to netbooks. The results? So-called "net advocacy" for netbooks—Biz260’s measure of the general online buzz for a product or brand—is about 40 percent lower than net advocacy for all notebook products. Furthermore, while raw performance seems to be the most important factor in evaluating a notebook computer, performance reviews of netbooks are predominantly negative.

Has the .com Domain Lost Its Luster?
Having a good domain name in the “.com” domain was once the gold standard of online presence, and the “.com” top-level domain literally defined the “dot-com” era in which the Internet and online commerce grew exponentially. But these days, according to a survey conducted by Lexicon Branding, consumers don’t see a lot of difference between “.com” and the “.net” and “.biz” domains.
Sony Will Unveil PS3 To Company Execs
“Information about the briefing has emerged privately from senior sources close to Sony at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, with several senior staffers from the firm’s overseas offices making the trip to the event next week.
However, further chatter among some developers at the show which pointed towards a rather more public PS3 unveiling in Tokyo later this month has been officially denied, with a SCEE representative telling GamesIndustry.biz that “we’ve already said that the first showing of the next generation PlayStation will be at E3 this year.”"

Xbox 2 Could Be Unveiled At CES 2005
“Senior industry sources, speaking to gamesindustry.biz over the weekend, have indicated that it is extremely likely that Xbox 2 – currently codenamed Xenon – will be unveiled during Bill Gates’ keynote address at the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 5th, 2005.
Gates, Microsoft chairman and chief-software-architect, was unveiled as the keynote speaker by the Consumer Electronics Association late last week, prompting speculation that Microsoft would use the platform to unveil Xbox 2.”
Lets hope that Gamesindustry.biz has their information right. The last report that we linked to from our site had Microsoft wanting to purchase Japanese console maker Nintendo. That report turned out to be taken out of context.
Xbox 2 Market Share Predictions
According to Gamesindustry.biz, the grand poobah’s of the industry have made some interesting predictions regarding the Xbox 2, at a recent Piper Jaffery conference in New York. JeffGriffiths, Electronics Boutique president, made a comment stating that the next-generation console could garner a 30 percent market share when released in late 2005.
Mr. Griffiths then commented on the Microsoft’s release strategy and how it could affect the numbers. “I think if they got less than that [30 percent] they’d be disappointed. If they come out earlierthan Sony, if they have the breadth of exclusive titles like Sony had for PS2, I think they’d definitely have potential for market share leadership.”
