Audiovox Unveils PPC 4100 Phone

Audiovox and AT&T Wireless today officially announced the rumoured PPC 4100, a WAN handheld powered by the lengthily-named Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition platform. To be available in June 2004 and showcased for the first time today at Microsoft’s Tech Ed conference in San Diego, California, the GSM-based PPC 4100 will join Audiovox’ second-generation CDMA WAN handheld, the Audiovox PPC 5050.

A tri-band GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz device with GPRS capabilities, the Audiovox PPC 4100 will be available through AT&T Wireless, apparently replacing the now-discontinued Siemens SX56 – a device much similar to the PPC 4100, albeit it with poorer specifications and running the 2002 edition of the Pocket PC Phone Edition platform. Currently, AT&T Wireless offers several BlackBerry handhelds and the Treo 600 by palmOne in the WAN handheld category.

IMs Away From the Computer

According to reliable reports, the single greatest threat to productivity is the American teenager — to be more precise, one addicted to instant messaging, and therefore monopolizing the family computer at all hours of the day.

Parents desperate to reclaim their computers don’t have many appealing options. The most common one may be plunking down several hundred bucks for another computer, then configuring a shared Internet connection and any necessary parental controls. Less ambitious IM options — for instance, BlackBerry handhelds or cell phones with text-messaging capability — require monthly fees.

Color BlackBerry 7230 now available

From large enterprises to prosumers, T-Mobile business customers can now enjoy the T-Mobile Get More® benefits average consumers have long appreciated: more included device features for the money andunparalleled pricing on the nation’s largest all-digital GSM/GPRS network. Selling for $399.99, T-Mobile customers who buy the BlackBerry 7230â„¢ can add, to most voice plans, unlimited email andmobile content for $29.99 a month – making wireless email affordable and billing easy-to-understand.
