But not for long. HP will soon put the machine’s crowd-drawing capabilities to work in storefronts when it begins selling the BlackBird 002 at brick and mortar shops this summer.

HP Takes Blackbird Game System Quad Core
Hewlett-Packard might still hold the top spot for worldwide computer sales, but the company still wants to win over the hearts and minds of gamers. To that end, the company has just announced its Blackbird 002 alpha desktop gaming system, now featuring a new 45nm Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 quad-core processor. The QX9650 uses Intel’s Hi-K hafnium-based metal gate in its transistosrs, boosting performance and lowering power consumption compared to its Core 2 predecessors.

Blackbird offers consumers the ability to control their music from any web browser, multiple computers, anywhere their home network extends. This capability includes desktop computers, wireless laptops, wireless PDA’s, or any device with a web browser. While entertaining guests or relaxing alone, consumers can now simply take out their pocket PDA, and play any song in their entire music collection on their home audio system.
A companion to the home audio system, Blackbird’s four models can store up to 80,000 songs. Blackbird offers audio enthusiasts two high performance sound quality options: professional quality M-Audio Audiophile 2496 or Creative Technology SoundBlaster sound cards.
