Apple has announced that Google CEO Eric Schmidt is resigning his position on Apple’s Board of Directors, owing to potential conflicts of interest as Google and Apple begin to compete in a wider number of businesses. Although Apple is not horning in on Google’s Internet search business, Google and Apple already butt heads on mobile phones (with the iPhone and Google Android), and Google’s recently announced Chrome OS will have the company’s competing on operating systems and (potentially) even computing hardware.

First Impressions of Tony Hawk RIDE’s Board Controller
After seeing Tony Hawk himself pull out the long-awaited board controller for RIDE at Microsoft’s Monday press conference, I couldn’t wait to hop aboard myself. And today I got a chance.
Though Activision reps will gladly explain how intuitive and natural it feels for a skateboarding game, not much really feels right about standing on a plastic plank in front of a TV. Even so, it does feel well built for what’s still a prototype. No worries about snapping this thing.
Yahoo Board Wins Vote
150 shareholders attended the delayed Yahoo general meeting in California on Friday – and gave a resounding show of support to the board for the way it had handled the failed talks with Microsoft about a $47.5 billion possible takeover.
Chief executive Jerry Yang gained the backing of 85% of the voters. But it wasn’t a complete love-in. According to the BBC, shareholder Eric Jackson of Ironfire Capital called for the resignation of chairman Eric Bostock over the aborted deal. In response Bostock informed the meeting that "the board controlled the process of dealing with Microsoft right from the beginning. We called the shots." He received an 80% backing in a re-election vote.
Yahoo Gets Investor Support
By now, of course, it’s not exactly news that billionaire investor Carl Icahn wants to oust the Yahoo board at the general meeting next month. Since making his pronouncement, Icahn has also reportedly joined with Microsoft in a bid for Yahoo, which the company rejected out of hand.
However, the Yahoo board has received some good news. Capital management company Legg Mason, which owns over 60 million shares of Yahoo stock – equivalent to 4.4% of the company, has come out in favour of the current board.
Legg Mason chairman and chief investment officer Bill Miller said:

iPod Shuffle Packs Quality Components
Quote from the article:
“Apple’s care is obvious in the appearance of the components, and innovations to improve how the unit feels when you use it. The firm didn’t hesitate to use expensive components when required.
The USB memory engineer was especially impressed with the sturdiness of the case: it doesn’t depress from the outside, and the headphone jack doesn’t wobble. Apple eliminated design features that made it look “cheap” and stressed solidity and strength. The iPod shuffle main board shows the same design philosophy in a number of places, such as the fact that the main board dimensions are extremely close to the interior size of the case. In fact, they are so close that it is difficult to pull out the main board. Achieving this requires precise control of tolerances for case and parts, and that naturally costs money.”

Quote from the review at Motherboards.org:
“The ASUS A8V-Deluxe is one of the first motherboards to hit market for AMD’s new socket 939 platform, and it comes loaded with all the bells and whistles needed to satiate the minds of the enthusiast crowd. Built around VIA technologies K8T800 Pro and the SB VIA VT8237 chipsets the board sizes in at 12″x 9.6″(30.5cm x 24.5cm) in the standard ATX Form Factor and will fit most mid tower or larger enclosures. The board comes with its own removable rear I/O shield that comes in the retail box; this is needed to fit your board correctly in your enclosure. Featuring dual-channel memory support and utilizing un-buffered DIMMs the board can accommodate up to 4GB of PC3200 DDR SDRAM via the boards 4 DIMM slots. Making the change to using un-buffered non-ECC memory in lieu of only buffered ECC memory should help alleviate high CAS latency times, and help speed up the systems overall performance. “
