Japanese mobile operator DoCoMo has announced that it has suspended sales of Research in Motion’s BlackBerry Bold smartphone because the unit can overhead while the battery is being charged. The suspension marks another black eye on RIM’s smartphone handset, which has met with troubles around the world: UK mobile operator Orange suspended sales of the BlackBerry Bold last year to resolve "software issues" with the device, and U.S. mobile operator took more than six months to certify the BlackBerry Bold for use on its network and open up U.S. sales in November of 2008.

AT&T to Offer BlackBerry Bold November 4
AT&T has revealed that it will begin offering RIM’s “flagship” BlackBerry Bold smartphone for sale on November 4. The confirmation came as part of the company’s conference call on third-quarter earnings, although the company has now confirmed the announcement.
The BlackBerry Bold was announced in May of 2008, and was initially scheduled to go on sale during the summer of 2008. But summer came and went, with AT&T only saying last month it was being very careful testing the BlackBerry Bold after complaints of dropped calls and poor connectivity hampered the initial release of Apple’s iPhone 3G, which is also exclusive to AT&T in the United States. AT&T’s caution in releasing the handset may have been well-founded: reports have had UK’s Orange suspending shipments of the device until it could work out software problems.
AT&T Still Testing BlackBerry Bold
Canada’s Research in Motion garnered a lot of attention back in May when it announced the BlackBerry Bold, sporting a 480 by 320-pixel display along with 3G data capabilities along with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. The BlackBerry Bold represented RIM’s first new smartphone platform in almost two years…and here, almost five months after its announcement, carrier partner AT&T has yet to put it into any U.S. customers’ hands. And now come reports from the UK’s Orange have the carrier suspending shipments of the units in order to work out a software problem.
Best Laptops Under $500
Although ThinkPads have a reputation for being pricier premium notebooks intended for business travelers, a little smart shopping can land you this budget model on a shoestring. It’s not as fast as the flagship T-series, or as light as the X-series, but the R61 has been reviewed favorably in its price range and includes many of the same features Lenovo rolls into those pricier ThinkPads. When ordering, make sure to choose the second-from-cheapest model to get an Intel Dual Core processor rather than a Celeron M (a bargain upgrade for only $32 more tacked onto the final price.) Also make sure to select the cheapest Windows Vista option to sneak in under the $500 mark. The coupon code USP3PAYPAL will take an extra 15 percent off, lowering the notebook to $487.69.
