LCD televisions have been on the market for a while now, but the prices for big-screen displays are still high enough to put off many consumers—even with the U.S. digital television transition looming on the horizon. With that in mind, electronics giant Sharp is ratcheting up the competition for those first high-def television buyers with its new SB series of Aquos LCD televisions. The SB series will all sport 1080p resolution and will be available in 42-, 46-, and 52-inch sizes.

Sharp Runs with 42-inch Aquos LCD TV
It seems like just a few weeks ago Sharp said it wasn’t going to bring its 42-inch Aquos LCD to the U.S. market, opting instead to push its 46- and 52-inch models instead. But at this year’s CEDIA show in Denver, consumer electronics giant Sharp changed its mind, announcing the Aquos LC-42D62U HD television, which offers dual HDMI inputs, full 1080p resolution, and a 42-inch LCD screen to the television market for just $2,499.
Sharp Updates AQUOS Line With HDTV
To meet the growing consumer demand for cutting-edge home entertainment options, Sharp, the global market leader in Liquid Crystal television, today announced the availability of new widescreen AQUOS LCD HDTV models, the GD4U and GD6U series. These new state-of-the-art AQUOS models are true, full High Definition televisions (1920×1080 resolution) with built-in CableCARD for “plug and play†capability, so consumers can enjoy the latest cable-TV HDTV programming without the added bulk or expense of an additional set-top box. These integrated HDTVs, available in 26-, 32- and 37-inch screen sizes, further strengthen Sharp’s large AQUOS collection, which currently offers consumers the widest selection of screen sizes, speaker configurations and unit colors of LCD TVs.
