M-Audio Debuts New Reference Speakers

Pro-audio outfit M-Audio today expanded its line of studio-grade reference monitors with a pair of digitally controlled bookshelf speakers, the Studiophile DSM1 and its larger brother, the DSM2. Both use an array of digital electronic wizardry to tweak their sound for any scenario.

The speakers offer dual Class D amps inside each cabinet (one for each driver) and built-in digital signal processing (DSP) to account for phase difference between both drivers directly at the crossover point. They also offer DSP-based equalizers and Acoustic Space Controls to further tweak response in different environments.

Zobo Debuts New Home Theater Furniture

Home theater products retailer and importer Zobo yesterday announced its Selwyn Furniture Collection of a plasma pop-up TV cabinet and matching end table for audio video components. The pop up cabinet is designed to house flat-panel televisions up to 50 inches wide.

The Selwyn Plasma Pop-up TV Cabinet, said Zobo, measures 20 inches deep and 36 inches tall. It features a lift mechanism with a rack and pinion design which uses four motors and eight gears to automatically raise and lower when the television turns on and off. A built-in safety sensor causes a reverse in direction if an obstruction of some type is noticed and a built-in infrared repeating system enables any television remote control to power on the television even when it is down inside the pop-up TV cabinet. The unit also ships with a radio-frequency remote control for manually raising and lowering the lift.

Martin Logan intros Mosaic loudspeaker

The Mosaic has toolless binding posts for cable attachment and management.

Mosaic uses the Vojtkoâ„¢ crossover and the same motor, cone and chassis structure as the Clarity. According to MartinLogan, Mosaic’s 8 inch, high-resolution woofer delivers low-end with incredibleaccuracy.

Mosaic’s cabinet consists of multiple laminates sonically welded together. The curved wood cabinet combines high performance and a decorative element to the décor of any home theater environment. Itis available in three cabinet finishes, natural cherry, dark mahogany and black.

The Mosaic starts shipping in July at a retail price of $995.

Martin Logan announces new Aeon “i” speaker

Aeon i builds upon the foundation of the Aeon loudspeaker by incorporating several new design innovations. These include a Generation 2 stat panel featuring ClearSpar technology, a NAC (naturalambience compensation) driver, improved low-end performance, and enhanced cabinet and stator finishes. Compared to the Aeon loudspeaker, the only things that remain the same in the new Aeon i are thecabinet shape, wood trim options, power cords and spikes.

The Aeon i’s new Generation 2 stat panel featuring ClearSpar technology provides impedance tolerance and maximum adhesion and abrasion resistance. ClearSpar technology enhances Aeon i’s transparentlook and increases both efficiency and dynamics.
