Yahoo Calendar Gets a Major Makeover

Yahoo Calendar Gets a Major Makeover

After an entire decade untouched, Yahoo has finally gotten around to updating its online calendar with a complete makeover. On Wednesday, the company announced the beta version of its revamped Yahoo Calendar, which will include interoperability with other calendar services, social calendar sharing, and integration with Flickr.

“With the new Yahoo! Calendar, we’ve taken the concept of a traditional paper calendar and transformed it into a smart, yet simple online tool that helps people to keep track of their schedules, stay organized and be more productive,” said Yahoo Mail vice president John Kremer.

Gallery Adds Power To Google Calendar

Gallery Adds Power To Google CalendarGoogle has added muscle to its Google Calendar application with Google Calendar Gallery. It’s a widget that allows users to import listings and events from other sites.

By giving Calendar users access to a numberof public listings of all kinds, Google’s modest aim is to turn the application into “the next best thing to a personal concierge.” With a single click, events or complete calendarscan be imported to the user’s calendar.

The Gallery feature has listings for TV (sorted by ZIP), sports and music, DVD releases, as well as more specialized offerings such as NBA games,Disney park events, concerts for Atlantic recording artists and a number of others, as well as festival schedules.

Google Pins Up Free Calendar Service

Google has taken the wraps off Google Calendar, a free, beta-release online calendar service, enabling registered users to manage their schedules and share events with others.

Known for it’s ambitious online interfaces (as well as services which seem to stay in perpetual beta testing!), Google Calendar enables users to move events via drag and drop, and utilizes natural language processing to streamline event creation. Creating an event no longer needs to involve typing a title, a descripton, and fiddling with onscreen controls to set times, dates, or contact lists. Instead, a “quick add” feature enables users to type simple phrases like “Lunch Friday with Tom” or “leave work tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.” and Google Calendar automatically translates the descriptions into calendar entries.

GTA: San Andreas Confirmed For Xbox

“Take Two took the opportunity presented by the results announcement to reveal a number of changes to their release schedule for 2005, including confirmation that The Warriors has been delayed into the second calendar quarter, while Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is now due to arrive in calendar Q1.

Most notably, however, the company has announced that an Xbox version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will ship in the June quarter, along with the previously announced PC version of the game.”
