It’s easier than ever to shoot high-definition video. You can do it with traditional-style camcorders, of course, but also with cameras that also are designed to take still photos — from high-end “digital SLRs” to cameras that slip into your shirt pocket. I’ve got recommendations in all three categories — listed here from least to most expensive. All of these record HD video and have “HDMI” output connections that let you view your masterpieces on an HD display.
The Canon EOS 7D offers an 18.0 megapixel CMOS Sensor and the ability to shoot full HD (1920 x 1080) video. The EOS 7D can shoot eight pictures per second and features a 19-point autofocus system. Its intelligent viewfinder offers 100% field of view, wide viewing angles, and a high magnification of 1.0. The EOS 7D’s magnesium body features 150,000 cycles of shutter durability and exclusive dust and weather resistance.

Canon has unveiled its new Canon EOS 7D DSLR digital camera…and rather than being an update to an existing EOS model, the 7D offers features that haven’t been seen in Canon shooters to date, including high-definition video capture capability, an eight frame-per-second continuous shooting mode, and a new 19-point autofocus systems—all combined with an 18 megapixel resolution.
“The EOS 7D represents a completely new chapter in digital photography and Canon product development,” said Canon Imaging Group senior VP and general manager Yuichi Ishizuka, in a statement. “This camera stands alone as the most functional and innovative DSLR Canon has released to-date, bringing together all of the best professional features offered, along with numerous user requests at a price-point everyone can appreciate.”
The Canon VIXIA HF S11 features 64GB of internal flash memory and contains a SDHC card slot allowing for the addition of more memory as needed. The HF S11 features a genuine Canon 10x HD video lens and a 1/2.6" 8.59 megapixel HD CMOS image sensor. The S11 can record at 1920×1080 full HD resolution and 24Mbps.Other features included on the S11 include Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization, Instant AF (Auto Focus), and an Advanced Auto Exposure System.

The Canon PowerShot SD940 IS features a 12.1 megapixel sensor and a large 2.7-inch PureColor System LCD display for easy viewing in any situation. The SD940 IS features a 28mm Wide-Angle Lens with 4x optical zoom as well as image stabilization. The SD940 IS is capable of shooting 720p HD movies and features an HDMI output connector for easy playback on HDTVs.

The Canon PowerShot SX120 IS features a 10 megapixel sensor and a large 3.0-inch Vari-angle LCD display for easy viewing in any situation. The SX120 IS features a high-powered 10x optical zoom lens with image stabilization to ensure clear images. The SX120 IS is offers an easy mode for capturing images that eliminates all the guesswork and ensures quality images even for beginners.

Canon has introduced six new cameras in its PowerShot line, including the new flagship G11 aimed at both professional and “pro-sumer” photographers and a bevy of consumer-friendly PowerShots in a revived S-series of cameras—including the first PowerShot camera to sport a touchscreen display.
“With the introduction of these new PowerShot cameras, consumers will have a wide array of choices when looking to upgrade and enhance their photography experience,” said Canon USA’s senior VP for consumer imaging Yuichi Ishizuka, in a statement. “Professional and entry-level users alike will now have the opportunity to choose the camera which best suits both their photographic and personal style at the same time.”
The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS features a 12 megapixel sensor and a large 2.5-inch Vari-angle LCD display for easy viewing in any situation. The SX20 IS features a high-powered 20x wide-angle optical zoom lens with image stabilization. The SX20 IS is capable of shooting 720p HD movies with stereo sound and features an HDMI output connector for easy playback on HDTVs.
