JVC Launches New Mini DV Camcorders

GZ-MC500

The new GZ-MC500 Digital Media Camera is the newest member of the JVC Everio family – the only currently available camcorders that record onto a hard disk. Like the single-CCD Everio camcorders launched last fall, the GZ-MC500 records 60 minutes of DVD-quality video or thousands of photo-quality stills to a Microdrive® removable hard disk. With this newest Everio, JVC combines these benefits with 3-CCD/5-megapixel performance.

The use of three CCDs combined with advanced pixel shift technology allows the GZ-MC500 to deliver 5 megapixel-class digital stills with a maximum size of 2560 x 1920 pixels, and a broadened dynamic range when recording still or moving images. The result is naturally sharp, vivid color, good contrast and clean mages or videos with good low light performance.

Sony HDR-FX1 HD Camera Review

Quote from the review:

“Perhaps one of the most anticipated events in recent history, by semi-pro videographers is the upcoming release of Sony’s new HDR-FX1 3-CCD high definition camcorder. Many of us have been disappointed by the JVC offerings due to their decision to use only a single CCD, and have been anxiously awaiting a true 3-CCD camera. With Sony’s announcement earlier this year of such a product, many of us got really excited. The good news is that their resulting product, the HDR-FX1 is now available.”

Sony Japan announces DCR-PC300 camcorder

According to Sony Japan, the three Megapixel CCD is the highest resolution CCD ever included on a camcorder producing the highest resolution stills of any camcorder on the market. The CCD is also a large 1/3 in. which will likely result in very good low light performance.
