Google Gives Dream Bonus

Google Gives Dream Bonus

The New York Times has reported that this Christmas, as a means of cutting back, Google has foregone that $1,000 an employee cash bonus and has opted instead to give its more than 20,000 employees worldwide unlocked Dream phones. The cell phone gift was first mentioned in the Valleywag blog.

Pricing the phones at $400 each, the company is giving them out to celebrate the release of the now-famous Android phone and also cut costs, since “The current economic crisis requires us to be more conservative about how we spend our money,” the company said in a memo.

Intel Pentium 4C Vs. AMD Barton Comparison

Quote from the review:

“With Christmas less than a month away, many of us will be making plans to upgrade soon. A processor upgrade would be sweet indeed! Unfortunately, the insane pricing of the new AMD 64 and Intel Pentium 4EE processors will put them out of reach for many of us.

With that, we present a comparison between the far more affordable Northwood-based Intel Pentium 4C and the Barton-cored AMD Athlon XP processors. Which of these will be the best processor upgrade to buy for Christmas? Read on to find out!”

Game Boy Advance Ship 10 Million In UK

The success of the handheld console continues apace this Christmas, with the GBA occupying a comfortable second place behind the PS2 in terms of unit sales in the UK, and showing no sign of the year-on-year sales decline which has afflicted most other consoles.

Nintendo is keen to promote the system as an ideal Christmas gift, and expects to bring the total catalogue of software available for the GBA to over 400 titles within the coming weeks. Disney Interactive’s Finding Nemo is the largest selling GBA title so far this Christmas, followed closely by Nintendo’s own Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire titles.

Nintendo resumes Game Cube production

Recent price-drops combined with the roll-out of key software titles for the machine in all three major markets have given the Cube new life in the run up to Christmas, and the production lines which had been silent since the company called a moratorium on building new hardware units at the start of the year have now rolled back into action.

When Nintendo halted production of the Cube, many sources assumed the worst for the console; however, it’s still not clear just how large the backlog of units that had built up at the company’s warehouses was, so it’s hard to say how seriously they were pressured into taking this decision.

Xbox and Cube Christmas titles slip to 2004

Last week, a Nintendo official release schedule for the USA confirmed that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle has indeed slipped back into early 2004, threatening a repeat of last years fiasco where the Cube had a dismal Christmas in Europe due to a lack of hit software.

Meanwhile one of the Xbox’ biggest hitters for the festive season is also gone, with Big Blue Box’ Fable slipping to Spring 2004 according to comments made by Robbie Bach at an investors conference in Redmond last week.
