Prosecute BT Over Phorm?

There’s been a storm in the UK recently over the testing of ad-serving technology Phorm, and the way it affects privacy. Now, security researcher Richard Clayton has called for British Telecom (BT) to be prosecuted after leaked documents have revealed it trialed the Phorm system (then called 121Media) in 2006 without informing subscribers.

Since BT didn’t obtain permission from website owners or search companies either, Clayton is arguing that the company should be prosecuted under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

According to ZDNet, the leaked document states:

Ford Motor Company today announced that it is expanding its availability of SIRIUS Satellite Radio as a dealer-installed option, and is targeting up to 20 vehicle lines for factory installations overthe next two years.

Ford, Mercury and Lincoln now offer SIRIUS Satellite Radio as a dealer-installed option on nine models.  Beginning this fall, this offering will be expanded to four additional models – Ford Escape, Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and the all-new Mercury Mariner.  The feature is currently available on the Ford Explorer, Sport Trac, Expedition and Thunderbird, the Mercury Mountaineer, the Lincoln LS, Aviator, Navigator and Town Car. 

Sirius Surpasses 600,000 Subscribers

SIRIUS reached the 600,000 mark over the Labor Day weekend, which was the debut weekend of SIRIUS’ play-by-play coverage of college football from 23 major universities from around the country. Later this week, SIRIUS will debut SIRIUS NFL Sunday Drive, the new programming package that allows subscribers nationwide to hear every NFL game each week. SIRIUS is also home to 65 channels of 100% commercial-free music as well as over 55 channels of news, sports, weather, traffic information and call-in talk shows, all for the great value of $12.95 a month, with no added premiums, and discounts for advance payments of one-year or more.
