RCA Scenium Profiles TV Is Thinnest RP Yet

Boasting a dramatic contemporary design that adapts easily to any room décor, the slim 61-inch widescreen viewing area of the RCA Scenium Profiles model is virtually all-screen with a cabinet only 6.85 inches thin and weighing only 135 pounds. Hitachi Shows Off 32HDL51 TV at CEDIA

Unveiled in 2004, the UltraVision CineForm series includes LCD, plasma and LCD rear-projection technologies in screen sizes up to 70 inches. Hitachi’s signature CineForm Series features a sculpturedgloss black frame that incorporates in-plane speakers for a clean, contemporary look that minimizes the non-picture area and emphasizes the image presentation.

The 32-inch HDTV is digital cable-ready, CableCARD compatible and features Hitachi’s convenient Quick Start Seamless HDTV and dual NTSC tuner technology. For the maximum in connection compatibility, the set also features dual HDMI and dual IEEE1394 with basic audio-video control interfaces. The thin form factor (3 3/8 inches) and attractive industrial design add a brilliant HDTV experience into any living space — whether mounted on a wall or set on a tabletop. For improved color and detail reproduction, the new LCD HDTV includes Hitachi’s latest generation VirtualHD(TM) 1080p processor.

Compro Announces New USB 2.0 TV Tuners

Compro Technology will release a full range of the USB 2.0 analog TV solutions called VideoMate Action USB 2.0 that allows users to watch and record analog TV program s on their desktop computer or notebook via a USB 2.0 port.

Two products are included in the Action series: VideoMate Action and VideoMate Action Ultra. The VideoMate Action products are designed with an air/cable-ready TV tuner. Install the VideoMate Action on your PC or laptop’s USB 2.0 port and you’re ready to watch TV in a resizable window, right on your PC screen! Both products are without need of an external power adaptor and suitable for both desktop and laptop users. .

Sony To Ship Wi-Fi LCD TV This Autumn

Dubbed the LocationFree TV, the unit is based on an LCD panel and an integrated tri-mode Wi-Fi adaptor. Sony will offer two models, one with a 12in, 800 x 600 display, the other a more portable 7in, 800 x 480 panel.

The former contains all sorts of TV-derived image processing technology to anti-alias jagged lines, provide motion compensation and offer picture-in-picture playback. There’s “3D Y/C separation circuitry for clear, vivid picture and colour blur reduction”, Sony said. The 5lbs unit also sports its own audio amplifier and speakers, and has its own video input ports.

RCA Introduces New LCD HDTV Monitors

The uniquely designed, versatile LCD models produce vibrant pictures and also serve as high-resolution displays for a wide variety of components, including standard and progressive scan DVD players,HDTV over-the-air digital tuner/decoders, HD cable decoders, HD satellite receivers and gaming systems.

The flat-screen monitors in 30-inch, 27-inch and 26-inch screen sizes, feature three discrete inputs – DVI-HDCP, Component Video YPrPb, and RGB – all capable of accepting a high-definition signal. All three models incorporate an integrated analog NTSC tuner to display over-the-air TV and cable programs, VGA port for connection to a laptop or desktop computer, “picture-in-PC” capability that provides a second window to view video when connected to a PC, and bi-sonic stereo speakers located on each side of the screen. The displays also feature a swift response time to create a sharper, smoother image and incorporate a series of adjustable features, including brightness, contrast, backlighting and color temperature to enhance the viewing experience in any lighting condition.

Thomson Introduces 2004 HDTV Line-up

The showpieces of the RCA lineup include more than a dozen new Digital Cable Ready HDTV sets that will offer delivery of HDTV programming from local cable operators as well as widescreen receptionand display of over-the-air broadcasts from local broadcasters who now offer digital TV service.

The new integrated ATSC and Digital Cable Ready models will be offered beginning this summer in a broad choice of screen sizes ranging from widescreen 40 inch sets up to mural-sized models calledProfiles HDTV that are powered by DLP projection microdisplay light engines. The entire range of Thomson’s 2004 HDTV products includes rear projection DLP and CRT rear projection HDTV Sets and HDTVMonitors as well as direct-view HDTV Monitors and flat-panel LCD HDTV Monitors and Plasma HDTV Displays.

Sony Debuts Personal Broadband LCD TV

Comprised of a 12.1-inch wireless touch screen LCD monitor and a base station, the personal TV system uses the industry’s first dual band wireless connection and high speed Ethernet port to transmit data, transforming it into a mobile video entertainment powerhouse that allows users to enjoy television, video, Internet browsing/streaming video, e-mail, and digital photos— all without a PC. It can also be used to control most major brand A/V components in the home.

Philips debuts new Flat TV’s
