Microsoft just completed the acquisition of Danger and many have concluded that this means a Zune phone is coming. Microsoft is denying that they will do a Zune phone, but given that the folks who were promoting “Plays for Sure” at Microsoft weren’t even aware of Zune until it was made public, you have to wonder if there is another surprise coming.
Let’s look at the possibility of a Zune phone this week and whether Microsoft can or will pull it off.
What Created Zune
Verizon Wireless is offering its enterprise customers mobile high-speed data services that are changing the way people do business. Developed with a range of users in mind, the BroadbandAccessnetwork allows large enterprises, small-medium businesses and mobile professionals to conduct business anytime, anywhere in the BroadbandAccess coverage area via a secure, true high-speed dataconnection with typical user download speeds of 300-500 kilobits per second (kbps).
The BroadbandAccess network is based on CDMA2000 1xEV-DO equipment, software and services provided in part by Lucent Technologies.
America Online, Inc., today debuts two leading Infinity Broadcasting stations to the top-ranked Internet radio services, Radio@AOL and Radio@AOL for Broadband. New York City’s WCBS-FM and Chicago’sWUSN-FM will now be available for an online audience on AOL. In the coming weeks, AOL will follow up the launches with three additional leading stations, Los Angeles’ KTWV-FM, Washington, DC’sWPGC-FM and Chicago’s WXRT-FM.
“This is a great win for our members,” said Jim Van Huysse, general manager of the AOL Radio Network. “Infinity represents many of the most popular and recognizable stations in the country, acrossall formats. The addition of their leading Oldies, and Country stations, along with the upcoming launches of top Smooth Jazz, Urban and Rock stations, from across the country provide a perfectcompliment to our wide-range of best-of-breed radio programming.”
