Surprise: The Wii Ruled 2007 Console Sales
Market research firm NPD has released its video game sales figures for the month of December and the entire 2007 calendar year, and the numbers show 2007 was a banner year for the video game industry, with total sales of $17.94 billion dollars—that represents a 43 percent improvement over the $12.53 billion consumers spent on games in 2006. For the month of December alone—traditionally the sector’s hottest month—NPD says Americans laid down $4.82 billion on video games, a 28 percent increase from December of 2006.

Mobile Phones Under Malware Attack

In spring 2004, a trojanized game called Mosquitos was found. It secretly sent messages to expensive toll numbers, creating invisible costs for the user.
June 15th: Cabir worm was found. Cabir is a worm that replicates over-the-air using bluetooth connections.
June 16th: Cabir.B is found. This new variant had minor differences compared to the original.
Sony To Ship 3 Million PSPs By March 05
That period covers the first three months of the console’s lifespan – from its launch in mid-December in Japan through to the end of Sony’s financial year on March 31st – and probably incorporates projections for both the US and European launches of the system.
Although no firm date has yet been given for launches outside Japan (and even the Japanese date is still a somewhat fuzzy “mid to late December” target), Sony has pledged to ship the handheld unit, which was originally planned for a simultaneous worldwide launch, as early as possible in 2005.
