Dell Readies Products For Holiday Season
John Hamlin, Dell senior vice president, U.S. Consumer, said the strength of the Dell model enables the company to offer consumer electronics at breakthrough prices on the products customers are most interested in buying now, while still being profitable.
“Our competitors’ prices provide us considerable room to pass on huge savings to our customers. Our high-definition plasma TV is significantly less than other brands with comparable features — less than half the price of one company’s. Our Dell DJ provides more battery life and more storage space at 20 percent less than the price of the No. 1 seller,” he said.
Dell Expands Digital Home Portfolio
By the end of the year Dell’s offerings will range from value systems with basic functionality and features such as the Dimension 3000 to more robust configurations in its Dimension 8400 and XPS series that allow users to view and record TV programs or enjoy other forms of digital content anywhere in their homes without being tethered to a computer. And, for the first time, customers can order a Dell Media Center PC with a no-TV option for a nominal charge compared to Dell desktops running traditional Windows XP, making it cost effective for a broader set of customers to easily organize music, pictures and video clips.

The Dell Axim X3i Gets Reviewed
Quote from the review:
“The Dell Axim x3i is very lightweighted and small, its easy to even carry it in the pocket of my shirt. It comes with a bright display, a little smaller than that of most competitors (same size as the MDA/2 display). Even in bright light the contrast is very good. I placed a WriteShield protector onto the display, even this didn’t reduce the readability.”

HP iPAQ h2210 review
Quote from Whining Dog review:
“The HP iPAQ h2210 is one of the best Pocket PC based PDAs out there today. It strikes a balance in delivering speed, portability, and expansion capabilities at a reasonable price. Though you will not find high end capabilities such as a biometric reader or a Wi-Fi antenna, you will get a sporty 400MHz Intel XScale processor, dual CF and SD card support and Bluetooth connectivity all for a reasonable price. The h2210 has a clean exterior design and doesn’t try to overload the user with too many capabilities. You’ll be able to check your email, read your notes, or read a Word document while at the same time listening to your favorite MP3 song. Though the Dell Axim is still a cheaper alternative to the HP iPAQ h2210, the h2210 is a work of a product line that has much more experience in the Pocket PC scene. “
DELL Axim X5 PDA Review
Quote from the article:
“The Axim X5 is a very good choice for its money. It includes functions vital for a modern PDA (a lot of memory, expandability, high-quality color display) and some features which let us handle this PDA with ease (removable battery, two expansion slots, jog dial). The only downside is that it’s a bit too massive. What I’m really fascinated with is rubber stripes on its sides: they hold the computer tightly in your hand.”
Dell updates popular Axim X5 handheld
Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs, the new brand name for Pocket PC 2003, makes it easy for customers to access wireless networks with their Dell Axim handhelds, delivers excellent e-mail and instant messaging experiences and supports powerful multimedia applications. McAfee’s VirusScan PDA provides robust protection against computer viruses on the Dell Axim X5.
New Axim customers will receive units based on Windows Mobile 2003 and can register for 30 days of free McAfee VirusScan PDA, or order a 12-month subscription with their systems for $19.00. Existing Axim customers in North America and Europe can purchase a Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade with companion CD from Dell for $29, and can order McAfee VirusScan PDA via the companion CD.
