SanDisk Develops 4GB MemoryStick

These new cards are double the current maximum capacities and are designed to fit into a broad range of digital cameras, digital camcorders, music players, games, mobile phones and other consumer electronics devices. The announcement was made at the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2004 trade show at Moscone Center where SanDisk is demonstrating products in Booth 924.

“SanDisk is leveraging to the fullest our leading edge flash memory and advanced controllers to once again raise the bar by introducing the highest capacities of Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo card and SD cards in the industry,” said Nelson Chan, executive vice president and general manager of the consumer and handset business. “These new capacity points will allow our customers who need maximum storage in their digital cameras, mobile phones and other electronics devices to use these new cards to store as many digital pictures, songs and other personal data as they desire.”

Elpida Expands DRAM For Consumer Devices

Elpida Memory, Inc (Elpida), Japan’s leading global supplier of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), today announced that it now offers an expanded line of 0.11-micron, high-speed consumer DRAM devices for use in digital consumer applications. The devices are offered in 64 Megabit, 128 Megabit and 256 Megabit densities with 16-bit and 32-bit organizations and are available in TSOP, FBGA and Low-Profile Quad Flat Packages (LQFP) to satisfy growing market demand for memory products in multiple density and package options. The devices target digital consumer electronics applications that are now using DRAM for the first time, or that have a need for higher density DRAM than ever before. These applications include digital cameras, digital TVs, hard disk drive (HDD) recorders and personal video recorders.

VIA And MoMA Mobilize x86-Based Games

D-Link releases combo FireWire/USB hub

Featuring the two popular connection standards for digital media and peripheral devices, the D-Link DFB-H7 can simultaneously connect four USB 2.0 and three IEEE 1394 FireWire devices such as DVDdrives, digital cameras and printers to the PC or laptop for transferring, editing and printing digital content. The D-Link DFB-H7 is small enough to place in a convenient location such as thedesktop or workspace, so users can have access to its seven USB 2.0 and FireWire connections right at their fingertips.

The D-Link QuickMedia USB 2.0/FireWire 7-port Combo Hub provides high-speed connectivity through the power of USB 2.0 and FireWire. The USB 2.0 ports can transfer data at up to 480Mbps, 40 times faster than previous USB hubs, and are backward compatible with USB 1.0 and USB 1.1. The D-Link DFB-H7’s three FireWire ports support transfer rates of up to 400Mbps. At these speeds, users can edit home video, transfer music and print digital images without latency.
