StrapWrap Stores Gadgets on Messenger Bags

StrapWrap Stores Gadgets on Messenger Bags

As if the canvas messenger bag weren’t trendy enough already, Digital Lifestyle Outfitters unveiled a new pouch on Tuesday designed to mate the bags with the trendiest of gadgets – the iPod and iPhone. The DLO StrapWrap slides onto a messenger bag strap, providing an easily accessible spot to hold digital music players and phones.

Although DLO markets it as a pouch for all gadgets, its 2.5inch width clearly caters to the iPod and iPhone, with room for similar-sized gadgets such as BlackBerrys thanks to its stretchy neoprene construction. It includes a side pocket for earbuds or other small accessories, as well as a hook to latch it onto a turnbuckle, preventing it from sliding down the strap.

Philips Acquires iPod Accessory Developer

Philips Electronics announced today plans to acquire Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO), a popular maker of accessories for devices like the Apple iPod. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed and the deal is expected to close in the second quarter of this year.

DLO, with operations in Charleston, South Carolina and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, will be folded into the Peripherals & Accessories business unit of Philips’ Consumer Electronics division. This unit, which Philips says has seen increased sales over the last several years, may well benefit from DLO’s niche of developing accessories, including docking stations, FM transmitters, cables and cases for mobile audio-visual devices such as MP3 and video players. DLO alone last year made around $100 million in sales, mainly in the United States.

DLO Offers HomeDock and TransDock for Zune

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) is known for their extensive collection of iPod add-ons, products, and accessories, but the company today “further demonstrated its support for Microsoft’s Zune digital media player” by announcing the immediate availability of its HomeDock and TransDock products for the Zune.

“According to recent reports, Microsoft is on track to ship one million Zune units by this summer,” said Rick Case, DLO’s executive VP of sales, in a release. “As the market leader in digital device accessories, we fully intend to be out front supporting these millions of users with accessories and devices that will allow them to get the most out of their Zune experience.”

DLO HomeDock Connects iPod to Your Receiver

The new DLO HomeDock supports the new iPod nano, mini and regular sized iPods. According to DLO, simply dock your iPod and connect the docking station to your boombox, receiver or audio system using regular composite RCA connections. You can control your iPod using the DLO remote control, and the docking station doubles as a charger for your Apple iPod. If you have an iPod photo then you can connect the DLO HomeDock to your television and view pictures in slideshow mode.
