Samsung Shows Off New Satellite DMB phone

Samsung’s new B200 boasts a horizontal screen that allows users not only to benefit from easier viewing of DMB services, but also to comfortably enjoy multimedia functions, such as photography and games. In addition, it is the first model to adopt Samsung’s innovative “slide and rotation” form factor, where the screen slides up and rotates horizontally, further enhancing user convenience.

Its large capacity battery (1300mAh) allows users to continuously view the screen for more than three hours, resolving the battery-depletion problem that has plagued DMB phones. The B200 also has a 2-megapixel camera, allowing users to enjoy photo quality that is as good as digital cameras. The versatile phone offers a variety of multimedia functions, including MP3 player and video viewing and users can enjoy clear video reception through the phone’s 260,000-color, 2.2-inch wide LCD screen.

LG Electronics Unveils DMB-Receiving Phone

The DMB mobile phone adopts the DMB-receiving System-on-Chip (SoC) that the company developed last month. The chip enables the user to watch terrestrial broadcasts and at the same time talk on the phone.

LG Electronics has technologically brought the usual home TV antenna function aimed at receiving VHF broadband DMB into the small phone. The handset also adopts DSP (Digital Signal Processor)-based SoC (System-on-Chip), mobile phone-fit low power consumption and design technologies for making the device small.

Samsung Aims To Bring TV To The Cell Phone

DMB, now coming online in Korea and Japan, is a multichannel broadcasting service with high-quality video. In principle, DMB will allow subscribers to watch television, listen to music, receive text messages, play videogames or cruise the Internet on their cell phone screens.

While Korea and Japan have installed digital broadcast standards and infrastructure, such service will not be offered in the United States until a digital broadcast standard is ratified, possibly in 2006, said Gyu-Hwan Choi, principal engineer in Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ digital module group.

Korea is upgrading to DMB in the second half of 2004).
