Internet Explorer 8: One Step Forward, Three Steps Back

It seems that only yesterday, Internet Explorer was a clunky abomination of a browser that lagged behind its competition in all features, crashed constantly, and was generally frowned upon by anyone with the knowhow to download something better. Seeing as the latest version, Internet Explorer 8, was just released yesterday, that embarrassing recollection of failure literally was last week.

Cirrus Logic to add Dolby Pro Logic IIx

Cirrus plans to incorporate the new Dolby standard into the CS49300 and CS49400 DSP chip families in the fourth quarter of 2003.

Already Cirrus is enabling several leading audio manufacturers to take an early leadership position in introducing the new Dolby format into the market, as evidenced by their Dolby Pro Logic IIx demonstrations powered by Cirrus DSP chips at the CEDIA Expo Sept. 3-7 in Indianapolis. Marantz plans to demonstrate the algorithm through its SR7400 receiver, powered by the CS49400, which it plans to ship in November. Harman Kardon said that it also intends to integrate Dolby Pro Logic IIx into selected receivers this fall, and the CS49300 DSP is a key ingredient in Fosgate Audionics’ new FAP T1+ surround processor/preamp, on display in CEDIA Expo booth #1508. The new processor is the first to feature Dolby Pro Logic IIx, an upgrade of Jim Fosgate’s original DPL II technology that now provides a 7.1 solution for high-end enthusiasts who want to enjoy superior multichannel performance from a two-channel source recording.
