Teeny notebook computers are all about compromise: you either get a small, light machine that’s affordable with almost no features, or you can get a light and small machine will bells and whistles…and it’s super expensive. Toshiba hopes to strike a middle ground with its new Portégé A600, which isn’t as small or as sturdy as some ultra-portable notebooks, but comes with a reasonable range of features and an affordable price tag.

Toshiba Portege R500 Packs 128 GB SSD
Toshiba is in the business of manufacturing flash-based solid state drives (SSDs), and it’s also in the business of manufacturing computers. Therefore, it’s not too surprising that the company would put one together with the other and pack its highest-capacity SSD into one of it’s lightest notebook computers to produce am appealing—though pricey—offering for the road warriors among us. Toshiba’s Portégé R500 now offers an option for a 128 GB solid state drive, and Toshiba is claiming it is the lightest notebook computer available with a DVD drive.
America Movil Takes iPhone to Latin America
In another market expansion for the Apple iPhone, América Móvil has announced (PDF) it has signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to its Latin American markets later in 2008. Like Vodafone’s announcement earlier this week that it would be bringing the iPhone to a swath of new European markets, the release contains no other information, including the financial terms of the deal or whether America Movil will have an exclusive lock on the iPhone in those markets.
América Móvil is controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Sim, and claims almost 160 million subscribers in 16 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Columbia, and Mexico.
Pokemon Battle Revolution Takes Wii Online
The Nintendo Wii has gained its first online-capable title in North America in the form of Pokémon Battle Revolution, the latest installment in the Pokémon franchise and the first Pokémon title available for the Wii.
“Already more than 2 million copies of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl have sold in the United States alone,” says Nintendo America’s senior VP of marketing, George Harrison. “The arrival of Pokémon Battle Revolution brings those players a whole new set of challenges and, for the first time on Wii, online battles.”
