Motorola Rolls Out New Mobile Devices

At an event in New York City today, Motorola took the wraps off its new collection of mobile devices, including a new version of its highly successful RAZR phone, a new version of its ROKR music phone, an updated version of its Windows Mobile-based Q smartphone, and a new self-proclaimed "media monster," the Moto Z8 phone.

"This focused new product portfolio further advances Motorola’s goal of bringing the ultimate mobile experience to customers around the globe," said Ed Zander, Motorola’s chairman and CEO. "Built on a cutting-edge technology platform, these devices feature powerful multimedia, messaging and innovative business capabilities. With this exciting product line-up, Motorola is once again redefining the cell phone for the world’s evolving mobile community."

Motorola iTunes Phone Still in Development

“Motorola, the world’s second-largest mobile phone maker, on Wednesday night confirmed plans to launch a new phone that will play digital music downloaded from Apple Computer’s iTunes online musicsite.

Ed Zander, chief executive, said the iTunes product would be coming out in the next few months. He was speaking during a presentation of Motorola’s first-quarter results after the markets closed on Wednesday.

Aside from the iTunes phone, Motorola also plans to introduce the Pebl, a curved flip phone, and the Slivr, a thin handset with a face that slides to a keypad a screen. He believes these

Motorola To Bring iTunes To Wireless Phones

Motorola, Inc. and Apple today announced they are partnering to enable millions of music lovers to transfer their favorite songs from the iTunes jukebox on their PC or Mac, including songs from theiTunes Music Store, to Motorola’s next-generation “always with you” mobile handsets, via a USB or Bluetooth connection. Apple will create a new iTunes mobile music player, which Motorola will makethe standard music application on all their mass-market music phones, expected to be available in the first half of next year.  

“We can’t think of a more natural partnership than this one with Apple, the brand synonymous with easy-to-use, legal music downloading, and Motorola, the innovator in mobile technology,” said Ed Zander, Chairman and CEO, Motorola. “Being able to transfer songs you’ve purchased from iTunes to Motorola mobile handsets expands the market reach for both of us and drives new revenue for customers, delivering an amazing music experience to millions of wireless users.”
