YouTube Expands Time Warner Video Deal

In its bid to expand beyond the universe of user-generated video, Google’s online video sharing service YouTube has expanded its deal with Time Warner to bring programming clips from a variety of the company’s cable television networks to YouTube. Time Warner networks CNN and HBO already post shorts and clips to the site, but the expanded deal will include additional material from CNN, as well as content from Cartoon Network and TNT.

Neither company disclosed financial terms of the deal, but the companies will share in advertising revenue derived from the clips.

Amazon and TiVo Team on TV Ad Links

Folks were wondering what Amazon’s forthcoming Internet-based video-on-demand service might mean for the deal the company had struck with TiVo and its existing Unbox service. Well, wonder no more: Amazon and TiVo have announced a new partnership called Product Purchase that will enable consumers to buy products from Amazon using their TiVo remote by way of onscreen links that will appear in selected programming. The first shows slated to leverage the new feature are The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, USA’s Burn Notice, and Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report and The Daily Show.

AOL Announces New Online Progamming

AOL today previewed five new programs which will debut on the online network mainly this fall. These programs are being developed in conjunction with media entertainment companies such as Mark Burnett, DreamWorks Animation, Endemol, Madison Road Entertainment, Stone & Co and Telepictures.

Here’s a breakdown of the new programming as detailed by AOL in a press release:

“Ye Olde Shrek the Third Royal Tournament” – Based on the Shrek the Third movie, this lets online fans play 25 Shrek games over a six-week period. Every day, AOL will feature new challenges, activities, news, downloads and more. It launches April 26 ‘07, three weeks before the movie hits theaters. The game is co-produced by AOL, DreamWorks Animation and Mark Burnett Productions (Survivor, The Apprentice).

Get ready women for a new XM satellite radio channel devoted specifically to you. Take Five, the satellite radio company announced today, will be beaming into satellite radios nationwide in October.
