SanDisk Introduces Sansa Fuze Media Players

SanDisk Introduces Sansa Fuze Media Players

SanDisk is gunning for the Apple iPod line again, this time taking on the video-capable iPod nano with its new Sansa Fuze line of portable media players. The Sansa Fuze players sport a 1.9-inch color screen, capacities of 2, 4, and 8 GB of flash memory, a microSD slot that enables users to expand storage…and they start at just $79.

“The Sansa Fuze is an eye-catching player that consumers will enjoy for its looks, capabilities and incredible value,” said SanDisk’s VP of Sansa product marketing Eric Bone, in a statement. “This new MP3 player combines some of the best features found on other Sansa products, including great sound quality. It’s yet another strong offering by SanDisk in the sub-$150 music player market.”

SanDisk Opts for Video and Wireless Music

SanDisk is looking to keep its momentum in going in the iPod-dominated media player market by introducing two new units designed to hit the iPod where it hurts—wireless capabilities and big-screen video playback.

The Sansa Connect is a Wi-Fi enabled portable digital music player which enables users to access and recommend music and photos from anywhere they can get wireless Internet access, along with tapping into music subscription ervices and streaming Internet radio. The Sansa Connect is built around mobile entertainment technology from Zing so users don’t have to use a PC to manage mobile music options.

SanDisk Unveils 8GB Sansa e280 Flash PMP

SanDisk Unveils 8GB Sansa e280 Flash PMP

SanDisk today took the wraps off its Sansa e280 flash-based personal music player, featuring a flash-based storage capacity which leaves Apple’s current iPod nanos in the dust: 8 GB. And the diminutive little unit offers a host of other features you won’t find in Apple’s ever-popular offering.

“SanDisk is once again making it incredibly affordable for consumers to purchase the most feature-rich, high-capacity players on the market at the best possible price,” said Eric Bone, SanDisk’s director of audio/video product marketing, in a statement. “The most costly ingredient in a flash-based MP3 player is the flash memory. Since we make the flash memory, we essentially remove the middleman and pass that savings directly to the consumer.”

SanDisk Debuts New Portable Media Players

The new Digital Audio Players combine crystal-clear sound with a sleek design and sport a three-button/one-joystick design and easy-to-navigate user interface. They feature MP3, Windows Media(R) file and Windows Media-based DRM file playback, FM radio and voice recording and can double as a USB data storage device. Because the players have the ability to play Windows Media-based DRM files, they can be used with any of the popular music purchase sites, such as Musicmatch(R) music store.

“The new Digital Audio Player line offers all of the key features you need in a portable music player at a highly affordable price,” said Eric Bone, director of retail product marketing at SanDisk. “It uses reliable flash memory which offers greater durability and ruggedness, smaller size, no noise of a rotating drive, and the ability to play hundreds of songs on a single AAA battery. In addition, it is designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of music sites that offer popular music formats such as MP3 and Windows Media as well as Windows Media-based DRM files from music subscription sites. This will make an ideal gift for the holidays.”

SanDisk Adds Outlook Support To Cruzer

From SanDisk’s press release:

SanDisk Corporation today announced that it is bolstering its top-of-the-line Cruzer Titanium USB portable flash drive with two powerful software programs that allow users to carry their important Microsoft Outlook information, access and edit it from other Microsoft Windows-based personal computers, and efficiently back up their files from any source. The programs were designed exclusively for SanDisk and are available only on Cruzer Titanium USB flash drives.

SanDisk Ships Worlds First 1GB SD Card

This new package employs a low-cost, high-yielding die-stacking process that is designed to enable SanDisk to double the memory capacity without increasing the size of the card, thus launching a newgeneration of competitively-priced, higher-density flash devices that can store unprecedented amounts of pictures, music and video.

“This is truly a breakthrough in the packaging technology that was designed to enable SanDisk to double the card capacity using the same memory technology,” said Yoram Cedar, SanDisk’s Senior Vice-President of Engineering. “Sharp’s expertise was instrumental in allowing us to develop the 1-gigabyte SD Card, which is the primary storage medium for the newest handheld computers, compact digital camcorders and multimedia phones. This process can also be applied to other form factors such as Compact Flash (CF) and Memory Stick (MS), and we expect to use it in future products that require high-capacity flash mass storage.”

Sandisk introduces Cruzur Mini USB device

Cruzer Mini is one of the world’s smallest flash memory drives and uses the latest USB interface technology to achieve the maximum data transfer rates possible today.

Cruzer Mini already has started shipping to major retailers in the United States and Canada and SanDisk also expects to ship the product in August to many of its 50,000 retail outlets around the world. The portable storage devices initially are being sold in two capacities – 128 and 256 megabytes (MB) – with suggested retail pricing of $49.99 and $79.99. SanDisk plans to introduce higher capacity Cruzer Minis later this year.
