Dash Express GPS Available for Pre-Order
Dash Navigation has opened up pre-orders for its Dash Express automotive GPS system. What sets the Dash Express apart from other vehicle-based GPS systems is that it builds in two-way Internet connectivity via Wi-Fi and GPRS networks, enabling a new set of capabilities not normally seen in GPS systems. For one thing, users can create routes and send them to their GPS wirelessly fro any Web browser. But, perhaps more intriguingly, it collects real-time traffic information from the Dash Driver Network, which includes anonymous polling of other Dash Express devices, and can calculate new routes as traffic flow information changes. Information from Dash Network can include data on sides streets and local roads, rather than just monitoring traffic on main thoroughfares and arterials.
Apple Releases Final Cut Express 4
While professionals wrestle with powerful video editing solutions like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, Apple gave amateur video enthusiasts a new option on Thursday with the release of Final Cut Express 4. The latest version of Apple’s consumer-level video-editing suite keeps the same simplified interface as its predecessors, and adds more flexibility in handling HD video, access to hundreds of plug-in effects, and the ability to import iMovie projects.
To accommodate for the growing number of HD cameras shooting video in slightly different formats, Final Cut Express 4 has been improved to allow editors to mix and match all of them on one timeline. It can handle conventional-resolution DV, as well as the high-def HDV and AVCHD formats in both 1080i and 720p resolutions.
Social Networking Made Easy
If you haven’t heard of social networking sites, we have only one question: What type of rock have you been living under for the last couple of years? They’ve currently become the biggest of Internet businesses, with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. snapping up MySpace and Google dipping into its seemingly bottomless coffers to purchase YouTube.
Honestly, you can barely turn around without hearing about social networking. In fact, to an entire generation or two, it’s become one of the main forms of personal communication. Having your own individualized online profile is easily eclipsing instant messaging (although you can do that too on some of the sites) in popularity. But to those of a certain age, it seems a mystery. So what exactly is it, and why is it so popular?
eBay Launches More Traditional Shopping
Online auction giant eBay today launched a new Web site which allows U.S. shoppers a way to find new items at fixed prices from qualified eBay merchants. Dubbed eBay Express, the site is in a preview phase right now in which the company is gathering user feedback and making enhancements.
eBay Express is more akin to an Amazon.com in terms of shopping then the traditional eBay auction model. Consumers who typically buy new items, said eBay, and don’t want to have to hassle with an auction-style listing are the targeted market of this new offering. Offerings available to shoppers at the site’s launch span a wide range of items such as apparel, books, computers, consumer electronics and sports memorabilia.
Dell Latitude D410 Laptop Review
Quote from the review:
“The D410 is actually based on Intel’s latest mobile Centrino platform, codenamed Sonoma. This offers a number of benefits over the first iteration of Centrino, such as support for PCI Express, SATA hard disks, DDR2 memory, and the new Express card format. However, the D410 employs only two of these – PCI Express and DDR2. There’s also a D400 available, based on the older 855 chipset, but going for the latest technology will keep the machine current for longer.
