Sci Fi Announces Broadband Channel

The Sci Fi Channel, as part of an array of announcements today related to new programming, unveiled details for a new online broadband offering which will be dedicated to original programs and tie-ins to existing Sci Fi shows. The new “Sci Fi Pulse” will debut on May 8.

Sci Fi Pulse, said the Sci Fi Channel, “will initially feature complete episodes of select Sci Fi original series, full-length uncut Sci Fi original movies, behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes and more”. As things get up to speed, additional offerings to be added will include a “weekly news show, the return of the popular ‘Exposure’ online film festival, webisode spin-offs of Sci Fi’s series, user-generated programming and much more”.

Battlestar Galactica Mobile Game Launched

Mobile game publisher In-Fusio and the Sci Fi Channel yesterday announced the release of a mobile game based on the latter’s hit Battlestar Galactica television series. Battlestar Galactica Mobile is initially available for download to Cingular and T-Mobile wireless customers.

In Battlestar Galactica Mobile, said In-Fusio, players pilot a Colonial Viper Mark VII high performance fighter through 11 levels and a variety of missions as they battle with Cylons. The game is a considered a shooter style title and offers play from a top-down perspective.

Battlestar Galactica "Free" Download Offer

TV Guide and the Sci Fi Channel yesterday announced they would be making available free for download on iTunes an episode of the hit series Battlestar Galactica. Unique 12-digit codes for approximately 1.4 million downloads will be given away in the March 6 TV Guide newsstand copy, which went on sale yesterday.

NBC Offers Swath of TV Shows via iTunes

From “must-see TV” to “must-see on iPod,”: Apple Computer and NBC Universal announced today that NBC is making an broad swath of television programming available for download via Apple’s increasingly mis-named iTunes Music Store for $1.99 per episode. Apple says it’s sold more than 3 million videos since it began offering video downloads in via iTunes October 12; the agreement with NBC expands iTunes’s TV offerings from five to sixteen shows. The new shows are available today in newly-created areas of the iTunes store specific to the NBC brands.
