Fujifilm Introduces New DVD Media

Fujifilms DVD+R 1X-16X optical media is among the industry’s first optical technologies to offer a disc capable of recording consistently and reliably in drives ranging from 1X-16X recordingspeeds. At a speed of 16X, a full 4.7 GB DVD+R disc can be written in about 6 minutes.

This new disc continues a legacy of innovation by incorporating Fujifilm’s unique, patented organic dye coating that was announced in January. The heavy-metal free dye comes from the company’s extensive research and development labs, which have over the last 70 years created an extensive library of innovative compounds based on photochemical research that have been responsible for advancing many technologies.

Fujifilm Introduces Five New Cameras

The company’s robust line ranges from point-and-shoot simplicity in its A-series to streamlined style in its F-series, and includes a traditional 35mm-style body with a wide range of shootingfeatures for photo enthusiasts in its S-series. Today’s additions include three cameras in a new fourth category, the highly versatile E-series, as well as replacements for two popular S-seriesmodels.

Fujifilm Develops 16X DVD-R Technology

The unique dye coating will ultimately make it possible to record the equivalent of a full-length, two-hour movie in less than five minutes.

Recent reports from media analyst firm Giga Stream suggest that by 2005, the DVD-R market will expand globally to 1.3 billion pieces shipped. The new Fujifilm dye coating technology will not only provide the basis for media in future recording devices, but will also maintain backward compatibility with existing legacy DVD-R technology.
