“At just $49, the iPod shuffle is the most affordable iPod ever,” said Apple VP of worldwide iPod product marketing Greg Joswiak, in a statement. “The new 2GB model lets music lovers bring even more songs everywhere they go in the impossibly small iPod shuffle.”

These days, a portable media player is as much a fashions statement as a way of saying “I don’t want to talk to you, can’t you see I’m absorbed in my media?” But what to do when your favorite portablemedia player isn’t available in a color that complements your mood, outfits, or other accessories? Apple hopes to make that trying situation a bit easier for fans of its iPod nano line today by introducing a new color in its line of diminutive, video-capable portable media players: pink.

More Automakers to Hook Up with iPod

By “seamless” iPod integration, Apple means that drives can use their vehicle’s built-in controls to control their iPod, including selecting music by album, artist, playlist, set the iPod into shuffle mode, as well as skip between tracks and playlists.
