Nvidia Introduces GTX 260 and 280

Video graphics developer Nvidia has announced its new line of GTZ 200 graphics processors, starting with the GTX 260 and its larger, faster sibling, the GTX 280. Both systems feature Nvidia’s 3-WAY SLI technology, accelerated decoding of high-definition video, and packing in 192 and 240 processor cores, respectively.

The GTX 260 packs in 896 MB of dedicated video memory and a 448-bit memory interface bus width, along with a 576 MHz graphics clock and a 1,242 MHz processor clock, combining for a texture fill rate of 36.9 billion/sec. The 260 supports displays up to 2,560 by 1,600 pixels (with a max VGA resolution of 2,048 by 1,536 pixels), handles multiple monitors (2- and 3-way SLI capable too), and packs HDCP , HDMI, and S/PDIF outputs.

Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX Now Available

Graphics developer Nvidia has officially launched its GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card, bringing both full-bore graphics capabilities and power management to serious gamers.

The GeForce 9800 GTX features 128 cores with a shader clock running 1,688 MHz, a 256-bit memory interface, and 512 MB of GDDR3 memory. The cards support Microsoft DirectX 10, have a max memory bandwidth of 70.4 GB/s, and incorporate Nvidia’s PureVideo HD engine for playback of high-definition video content. Serious games, of course, will want to double up on GPUS: the 9800 GTX supports Nvidia’s SLI capabilities for as much as doubling graphics performance when combined with a second 9800 GTX on systems with SLI-ready motherboards—and truly extreme players can wrap together three 9800 GTX cards for up to 2.8 times faster performance.

NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX is the New King

NVIDIA’s new 7800 GTX is not only faster than its predecessor the 6800 Ultra, but it requires 50% percent less power from your power supply, and that’s quite an accomplishment. The new 7800 GTX has more than 300 million transistors making it the most advanced GPU to come out of NVIDIA to date. In some gaming benchmarks the new 7800 GTX showed up to a 2.3X the performance of a dual-slot SLI based GeForce 6800 Ultra system. And the 7800 GTX only requires a single slot in your PC, great for the smaller cases.
