Veoh Puts Some P2P Behind Online Video

Veoh Networks has officially launched its online video syndication service, aiming to offer a convenient video library for online video watchers and a new platform for digital video publishers who want to push their content to blogs, RSS feeds, and sites like YouTube and MySpace.

"Veoh’s mission is to bring the next generation of television to people wherever they are—office, living room, or on the go," said Veoh CEO Dmitry Shapiro. "Technology will allow us to dramatically improve the experience, and we believe our formal release today is an important step towards realizing our goal."

TV Guide Expands Mobile Offerings

TV Guide yesterday built upon the foundations they laid last year when they launched a mobile information service as they announced upcoming, next generation products and services offerings for those seeking their television data through their mobile phones. Specific availability for the new TV Guide Mobile looks to be sometime this year, while a new video content offering from the TV Guide Channel looks to be available now.

Cingular Launches 3G Phones, Video Service

Cingular Wireless today took the wraps off Cingular Video a new on-demand video service for two new 3G mobile phones. For $20 a month, subscribers will be able to download entertainment, news, sports, weather, and other video clips, as well as segments of their favorite shows from networks like ABC, NBC, Fox, CNN, ESPN, Disney, and the Cartoon Network. For an extra $5 a month, users will also be able to access short 3-5 minute clips of HBO programming like The Sopranos.

TVGuide.com Updates Search Engine

TVGuide.com today announced they were launching a new video search engine tied into their editorial content. This search engine is powered by Fast Search & Transfer, a provider of search software and solutions.

TVGuide.com’s new search engine, said parent company Gemstar-TV Guide International, integrates video and other content from Fox; FX; HBO, MTV Networks including MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo and Comedy Central; Showtime Networks; Discovery Networks, including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Discovery Health Channel and Fit TV; TV Guide Channel and National Geographic Channel. It will appear along with TV Guide’s database of listings, photos, show and episode descriptions, news, reviews, ratings, celebrity information, podcasts, TV Guide magazine covers, and other information.

TV Guide Airs Weekly Entertainment Podcast

In yet another sign podcasting is going more and more mainstream, entertainment website TVGuide.com said today they were launching a new podcast. This program, to air weekly, will be called TV Guide Talk.

Produced by editors and writers from the TvGuide.com staff, TV Guide Talk’s initial lineup includes the following segments, according to the company’s press release:

— Entertainment News: Breaking news and inside scoop from the world of entertainment reported with flair by Michael Ausiello, TVGuide.com news director and TV Guide magazine columnist.

— Watercooler: A fun, insightful, candid discussion about the week’s most buzz-worthy television shows by editors and writers from TVGuide.com.
