Nvidia Claims 50 Percent Speed Boost in Next-Gen Mobile GPUs

Nvidia used the first day of the CeBIT expo in Hanover, Germany to lift the curtain on the next generation of notebook GPUs, which will push portables another step further to their powerful desktop counterparts. Nvidia claims that all the chips can push frame rates up to 50 percent better than the chips they replace, while consuming the same amount of power.

The GTX 280M and 260M will top the line-up with features aimed at the enthusiast consumer, while the GTS 160M and 150M make further concessions to price and efficiency. The GTX chips are likely destined for high-power gaming notebooks, while the GTS series should provide ample graphics in notebooks that shoot for a slimmer profile and less power consumption.
