Although the device has been expected for some time, today South Korean electronics giant Samsung officially announced its Samsung R1 media player, a followup to the Q2 it introduced earlier this year. The R1 offers a slightly bigger touchscreen, at 2.6 inches, and also roll in support for DivX video and a “Beat DJ” feature enables users to add their own voices and sound effects to songs—just the thing to entertain (or really annoy!) your friends when you hook it up to a stereo system.

Government Anti-Terrorism Link Leads To…Porn
It’s a bit like a bad joke. When a man was surfing the site of the British Home Office looking for information about anti-terrorism powers on the site of the Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism, he clicked on a link for the external site of the Technical Advisory Board.
However, the link didn’t provide quite the information he expected, as he was directed to a Japanese porn site.
He told the BBC, which informed the Home Office, who removed the link. At first the HO believed it has been hacked, but it was nothing so exciting. Instead, the porn company had simply bought the domain after it expired.
Dell Builds First Sony/Apple Class Notebook
Dell has been known for a lot of things over the years, some not very positive, and most having to do with providing good value for a price. A few years back, they came out with the XPS line. While it added some color, you wouldn’t really call the product sexy, and the folks most likely to want to carry them were gamers with very large biceps.
That just changed, and with their latest announcement, Dell is declaring war on the Sony/Toshiba/Apple class of cool-looking notebooks. Their first shot appears to be as good as the best.
Yahoo Scores Bundling Deal with HP
Yahoo has scored another major bundling deal: just a couple weeks after inking a bundling deal with computer maker Acer, Internet giant Yahoo has found a new partner in Hewlett-Packard, which as agreed to install Yahoo search and a co-branded toolbar as default software on consumer desktop and portable computer systems sold in the U.S. and Europe. The deal could give Yahoo a significant presence on user desktops as both it and Google vie for scree presence as Microsoft prepares to launch Windows Vista; HP is currently ranked as the world’s second-largest computer maker, while Google has already inked a similar arrangement with number one computer maker Dell.
New LG Qiblah Phone Points To Mecca
LG’s F7100 model is equipped with more upgraded functions compared to the initial Mecca indicator phone launched last year. Thus, LG Electronics is pushing to further strengthen itsregion-friendly marketing.
LG Electronics has introduced to the market the Qiblah phone (model:LG-F7100) which comes complete with embedded compass, direction indication and prayer time alarm (Azan feature), usable in 500cities worldwide. LG Electronics has launched the Mecca indicator phone in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other Middle East nations, as well as North African nations. LGE held a launching ceremony inDubai, on July 20th.
ATI Supply Problems To Improve This Month
Ho also confirmed that ATI will start delivering chipsets supporting PCI express technology in the second quarter.
Many of ATI’s OEM clients of motherboards and graphics cards have already verified the company’s PCI express-based chipsets and have decided to use the products, Ho said.
