Hulu and EMI Team Up for Music Videos

Online video site Hulu and music label EMI have announced a new partnership that will bring music and concert video from EMI artists to the popular service. The first offering under the deal will be a special channel dedicated to Norah Jones, who has a new album coming out this week.

“We think Hulu is an excellent, high-quality environment and a great place to connect with fans,” said EMI Music North America’s Ronn Werre, in a statement. “We look forward to making more content available from other artists as well.”

The new terms and conditons for iTunes store reads, “iTunes LP and iTunes Extras Products are usable only on computers with iTunes 9 or higher and Apple TV with software version 3.0 or higher.” In true Apple fashion, the update does not include any outside content, such as streaming from Netflix, Hulu, or any TV networks.

News Corp. COO Sees Hulu Charging Fees for Access

huluHulu, the free online video site that runs many television shows and movies in their entirety, will start charging fees at some point, one of its owners said.

News Corp., which co-owns the site with NBC Universal, Walt Disney Co. and Providence Equity Partners, said it hasn’t decided what form the subscription model would take and is concentrating for now on delivering a good experience for users.

And with sites like Hulu, YouTube and Joost, enjoying video digitally no longer entails a lengthy process of DVD ripping or piracy. Video is truly everywhere now, and enjoying it is truly simple.
